  1. Hi Jonathan

I did exactly the same on ny 91 XFlow a few years ago. The conversion to rivnuts makes a great difference when you want to do work under the scuttle and it is something I am very glad I did.

I believe the the "large" rivets that you are talking about on either side do not exist on the more recent chassis. I drilled this out and fitted rivnuts and then large (tarty anodised!) wide, flat head bolts (I'm sure there is a proper name for them) which I got from the Demon Tweeks catalogue. I'll admit that I was worried at the size of hole that it took in the chassis (through a braze where three chassis members meet) in case it weakened the chassis. However, I ran the car like that for about three years of sprints and trackdays without any problem. I then had the car stripped right back by Arch and the holes welded up as the newer type bodywork does without any rivets at this point.

    All the best - Michael.

  2. Yup - dual drives are absolutely fine. Tam (my Wife) and I have been sharing the car for a few years until the arrival of our son this year. The only down side is you have the pressure of two people in the same car, so nowhere to hide if the other person is quicker than you 😬

Yes, you both have to pay your own individual entry fees and of course each need their own non-race B license and race suit/helmet/gloves etc

Hope to see you on track next year! Michael.

  3. What Chris says is key, and I've just gone through this when I ordered a set from Luke. Just make sure you say that I you want a SET from them (one left and one right handed) - last time I orderd harnesses from a distributor (DT) they sent me 2 that adjusted from the same side, then had to pay Luke to adjust them.

I also ordered with lightweight adjusters which I feel are easier to use and also reduce weight a bit. Michael.

  4. Skip - treat yourself to a day out at the Autosport Show at the NEC in Jan - Demon Tweeks and other suppliers will be there and you can try plenty on, (and there are often offers available).

    Michael.

  5. here If anyone wants a full resolution copy of any of the photos, please just drop me a mail.

For those who were not there, I'll let you reach your own opinion re what was going on in some of the photos *thumbup*

A great event, and fantastic to see so many people there. Glad to see that the golden trowel has gone to a caring new home 😬

    Michael.

  6. When my hub broke earlier in the year, it took out my Stack Speedo Sensor and mounting bracket.

I seem to remember that there was an alternative (read cheaper) replacement for the sensor than the £110 that Demon Tweaks want, and £130 that CC want, for the sensor. However a search here did not come up with any leads - any pointers please?

    Thanks,

    Michael.

  7. *redface* Blush

Looks like normal service is resumed with H5 URF.

The reunion with the trowel was an emotional one (thanks for the "presentation" Suzanne!)

I never liked golf anyway, so how can the golfers fail to appreciate the two new furrows acrosws their green? *eek*

    Michael.

  8. Can someone please lift the current curse on H5 URF. It started at the end of last year when a rear bearing failed at Pembray. Thanks to lots of help we got her fixed. Then this year I have had

    • broken reak diff mounting (Llys y Fran fixed through lots of help from the club - you know who you are!

    • Throttle stuck open on last run (MIRA)

    • Drove into bank (Curborough quite a lot of damage, didn't do my confidence a great deal of good. Recovered and greatly helped by club members - there's a theme emerging here...)

So today I decide to get over my 'worry' at Curborough with a sneeky test day. Brake into Fradley, brake pedal goes to the floor. Car just stops in front of the exact same bank I hit 3 months ago. Front hub casting had neatly snapped ... Currently awaiting the AA :-(

    Michael.

  9. Robin - yes, Mr Sankey put in a stellar drive again to win class 4 😬 😬 😬

(In all seriousness, in the wet on Saturday I seem to remember that Mike wasn't far off the lead of calss 5 😳)

    Michael.
