  1. To carry this to its logical conclusion - where are people buying their ZZSs from, and what are they paying? BMTR looks like £120/corner, but Birmingham isn't desperately convenient for me. Other than Avon directly and CC, anyone else I should be looking at in the SE? Cheers,
  2. I received a 10% off voucher for Grand Prix Raceware with my MSA license this year (not as good as the VAT free available at Autosport Show, but better than nothing!) Otherwise, if buying from DT, ask for Dave Kimberley who is/was? a Club member and will normally offer 10% off too...
  3. No, I don't have the certificate unfortunately. If someone with an FIA bar could tell me where their Arch FIA sticker is on the bar or Petty strut, I#d appreciate it
  4. OK, so I have now got an ARCH FIA sticker for my tall FIA rollbar. I only seem to remember seeing these on rollbars themselves, but the post above refers to it going on the petty strut. Which is correct please?
  5. THIS MONTH:THE FREESTYLE STORY • REMEMBERING ROGER SAVARÈ • HOW A THROTTLE BODY IS MADE • SCOTBLAT REPORT • RACE OF REMEMBRANCE 2015 • THE CAR THE CLUB REBUILT Lowflying is currently with the printers and should be dispatched to members around 4th February.
  6. Hmm, so your bars have both an Arch Sticker and an "FIA approved" sticker? Sadly, neither my tall bar (purchased second hand, stripped and repowder coated) nor my petty strut have anything on them :-(
  7. Thanks (I think!). So, we think the Tall FIA bar was made by Safety Devices? Any idea if there is a serial number to look for somewhere?
  8. Sorry if I've missed something obvious, but do Specialist Roadgoing cars running FIA bar & Petty strut require the FIA sticker, or is the material type/diameter/thickness likely to be sufficient? Cheers,
  9. THIS MONTH: FUEL INJECTION • SEVEN PEOPLE: MARK COLLINS • LARRY’S BIG DAY OUT • OH THOSE SUMMER DAYS • SUPER SIGMA AROUND A SLIPPERY SILVERSTONE • CHATEAU BLAT • INTRO TO SPRINT DAY • AREA MEETINGS Lowflying is currently with the printers and should be dispatched to members around 13th January
  10. What better way to show your passion for that ‘silly little car’ than by wearing the latest offerings from the Lotus Seven Club Regalia range? We have regalia items to suit all budgets. Just go to www.sevenregalia.com Items include our lovely warm Club Fleeces, Club Beanie, umbrellas, a range of kids wear and much, much more.
  11. THIS MONTH: SEVEN REBUILD • SEVEN PEOPLE: MIKE RAWLINGS • CARROTLAND ‘BIG BLAT’ • GOODWOOD BLAT • MY CAT’S BEEN SCALDED • NICK POTTER • SILVERSTONE RACE REPORT • NEW MEMBER PROFILE Lowflying is currently with the printers and should be dispatched to members around 7th December
  12. Success in this year's Lotus Seven Speed Championship was celebrated at an awards lunch, held at the Gaydon Heritage Centre on Sunday 30th November. Pictured here with their trophies are (Second Row L to R) Mark Durrant - Class 6 winner, Philip Matchwick - Edward Lewis Cup winner, Robert Jacobs - Class 1 Winner and Overall Series Champion, Rebecca Boston - Ladies' Champion (Front Row L to R) Shaun Elwell - Class 5 winner, Richard Price - Class 3 winner, Matthew Bramall - Novice Champion At the extreme left and right of the rear row are representatives from our series sponsors, Stuart Cresswell from Premier Power, and Patrick Murphy from Quantum Racing Suspension.
  13. Hi David - I suspect that quite a few competitors (like me!) are watching from the sidelines, currently still unsure of what the optimum solution for the championship may be. However, can we explore your comment that "I think we will see the end of list 1a and 1b tyres to just road going e marked". Can I ask what you base that on? Asd I see it, we have only ever had "Road going e marked" as far as the regulators are concerned, it's just been that the MSA has chosen to then separate these into List 1A, 1B (and now 1C). Whilst I fully appreciate that over time, tyre marking regulations will become more and more stringent, I feel that there will always be a market for "pure road" and "track-biased" tyres, and that as ever, technology development will provide (maybe at a cost?) higher performance track tyres for those who want them. Am I missing something? Merging Classes 2 and 3 would be a major step, and I want to make sure that any action we may chose to take is for valid reasons. All the best,
  14. Thanks for the effort Simon. To avoid any duplication of effort, is anyone peoposing to try to make contact with Safety Devices?
  15. THIS MONTH: GORDON MURRAY EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW • PROJECT SCOPE CREEP PART II • TAKING FLIGHT • NEWBYS TO THE CONTINENT • BOOK REVIEWS • OULTON PARK RACE REPORT • THE CAR THE CLUB REBUILT UPDATE Lowflying is curently with the printers and should be dispatched to members around 5th November.
  16. Hmm - I see trouble there. No sticker on my tall FIA bar since I had it shot-blasted & resprayed black :-( (Not that I could swear that there was one there before either...
  17. Hi Paul / All, Iw we go Mod-Prod, you say "...you must run an approved cage of which there are numerous options but, since our regs already require this, there are no additional implications" Does an FIA bar with Petty strutt comply or is a cage necessary (sorry, don't have Blue Book to hand). Cheers,
  18. If so, I could really do with a couple for LF please!
  19. Photographs have been coming in thick and fast for the Club’s 2016 calendar competition. However, it’s not too late to get your entry in if you would like to take part. Please send entries to lowflying@lotus7.club, with a single picture and caption per email. A maximum of five pictures is allowed per person and membership number. The theme is “Lotus 7 Club Life”. We are happy for you to interpret this as you reasonably see fit, but themes of cars, touring, track days, Club events and the like will be particularly welcomed. A short caption for each picture submitted would be appreciated too, as any photo not used on the calendar may well be chosen to appear in Lowflying magazine at a later date. PLEASE NOTE: Because of the calendar’s layout, pictures will need to be in landscape format. Please also make sure that files are of a high enough resolution to allow good quality reproduction. Please mark all entries with the subject title “Club Calendar 2016 Photo Competition”. Submissions should include your name, phone number and Club membership number. 13 entries will be selected for the calendar, and the following prizes will be on offer: 1st Prize of a Lotus 7 Club Micro Fleece Jacket 2nd Prize of a Lotus 7 Club polo shirt (mens or ladies) The remaining selected entrants will receive a t-shirt from the Club’s regalia range. Terms and Conditions. 1) The closing date for the competition is the 25th October 2015. Images received after this date will not be eligible for consideration. 2) The Competition is open to Club members only. Although you are welcome to submit up to five pictures per membership number, typically no more than one from any member’s set will be chosen for the final winning selection. 3) No images submitted to previous years’ competition will be considered. 4) Entrants must warrant that the photograph that they are submitting is their own work, that they own the copyright for it and that they have obtained any necessary consents relating to its capture and reproduction. 5) Entrants will retain the copyright to the image, but by entering, agree to allow the Lotus 7 Club licence to reproduce the submitted images royalty free in any manner that the Club deems fit for Club purposes. 6) The Club will endeavour to credit your picture wherever possible with an appropriate attribution, but this is not guaranteed. 7) Late, incomplete or corrupt entries will not be accepted. No responsibility can be accepted for lost entries and proof of transmission will not be accepted as proof of receipt. 8) The Judges’ decision is final. 9) The Club reserves the right to alter the prizes awarded in the event of unforeseen circumstances. 10) Submission of an entry implies acceptance of these terms and conditions in full.
  20. Hi Chris, I don't know how the torque curves and max revs vary between the Zetec and the Xflow, but when I had my 5 speed ratios changed, I sought lots of advice (and played with gearcalc over many evenings!) and settled on what they called the "sporting close" E7 gearset which is 2.75 1.75 1.26 1.0 0.86. It certainly was a great improvement over the standard. I went for the Quaife alloy box at the same time which has the filler in the lid and lops a few kg off. I didn't have an improved drain plug or dipstick fitted, but in hindsight, probably should have done while I had the chance. All the best,
