Another entry on its way in ...
However, Simon/Mike, there seems to be a problem with the link to the entry form from Competotors Korner - it still shows as "coming soon"?
All the best - Michael.

I believe Radtec offers a 10% discount to Club members - check the members discount section. Might help a bit... There's a story in next month's LF about another member's experience in doing just this swap...

Could be many things, but sounds suspiciously like the problem I have been chasing on my 1700 x/flow for a while and have just diagnosed. in my case, the bolt holding the trigger wheel onto the crank had come loose, meaning that the trigger weel was stopping in different positions each time I turned the engine over (it is keyed into the crank pulley, but the key pin had sheared under the strain)
Worth checking?
Otherwise, I suggest
- checking that you've got a spark at the king lead and at each of the spark plugs
- changing coil, rotor arm, distributor cap, plugs (all cheap parts, and if they don't do the trick, worth keeping in as spares anyway!)
Best of luck Michael

Many thanks
YHM back! Michael

Glad you enjoyed it Chris. I have to say, I rather enjoyed researching it
I'm always fascinated by WWII stories and still can't get my head around how they engineered such huge and well-built facilities in such a short time.

Counting down to the start of coverage from Donnington on Motors TV. Hoping you get more attention from the cameras than Caterham did on their F1 debut
Best of luck! Michael.

James - Tillett does offer plastic washers in differing thicknesses for the purpose which I am sure are available in packs from Caterham. Might be a bit lighter than a stack of large metal washers but probably no other great advantage?
All the best

Hi James,
I would be surprised if the petty strutt didn't fit with the passenger Tillet in place. That's probably the most common combination in the paddock, so unless you have some very unusual combination of spacers under the seat, I can't imagine you would have a problem? I'd just give it a try.
Re fixing the petty strut together, yes, you'll need to mark and drill a hole and put a bolt through. You''ll also need a bolt to go into the chassis in the passenger footwell, and a nut and bolt to go through the mount into the roll bar. Sorry, don't have the sizes to hand at the moment, but thay are nothing unusual!
Best of luck- Michael.

Raplf - You may not want to split, but I'd REALLY like to have your early Low Flyings - the 89-94. They would complete my collection a treat.
Happy to make a donation to NTL for the privilege of course....
I understand if you want to keep them together however.
Regards - Michael.

Would be interested to hear of anyone who has successfully done this on "old" CF.
I spoke to TSK about lacquering my front wings a couple of months ago, but the feedback was that although it would look great for a while, because it is difficult to get an adequate key onto the existing material, in time the laquer would start to peel.

must add them to my list of stands to visit
On a more serious note, who is going to Autospo and when? I'm planning on being there on Thursday. Hope to 'bump in' to some friendly faces there?
All the best Michael

Many thanks for the offer Stuart, but Roger has been a star and has got this sorted for me. Now I just need to convince the 2 year old that it's not a handle to swing from...
All the best - Michael

Fantastic evening, great organisation, brilliant company...
Some photos here as a reminder to anyone who found their recollection of parts of the evening a little hazy 😳

To be honest, I'm not, because it's rather rogered
I ran an M5 die down an old SPA mount and it cleaned the thread up nicely, but the material is so soft that I may actually have been been cutting a new thread. At least based on that, if I can fit an M5 helicoil to the stem, I can mate it to an M5 mount...
Michael.
-
The internal thread on the stem of my SPA mirror has become enlarged (probably by a 2 year old using it as a handle to get into the 7
) See here
I would just replace it, but as it was made to a custom length, I'd rather try to repair it.
I have no experience of helicoil inserts and wanted to know if that was a possible solution. The thread needs to be M5 - the current size of the hole is 4.84mm and the OD of the stem is 9.9mm
Is a helicoil the right solution and is there likely to be enough material to fit it? Even more cheekily, is there anyone in the Bucks/Berks area with a helicoil kit I could borrow, or could anyone do this for me for some beer tokens or some cash to NTL?
Many thanks -
Michael.

I can't comment on the legality but I believe that Chris Alston "Aeroscreens" trailors his 7 behind a diesel Focus very successfully...
[EDIT] I've just seen that he's already posted on your other thread

Thanks for sharing Richard
I did consider a compilation of my weekend's spins, but decided it would be so long that nobody would be able to stay awake to the end
Michael.

Major congratulations to Tom - from novice champion to class champion in one step - RESPECT.
Well done to Mark Gibson for his win on Saturday too
I was too busy spinning to take many pictures, but the one which I think sums up Saturday (and I hope Richard won't mind
) is here
All the best -Michael

Looks like the rather strange intermittent coolant loss problem H5 URF had earlier in the year might be more serious than I hoped, so no Loton Park for us
. Haven't had a chance yet to work out if it's just a head gasket or something more sinister.
See everyone at Curborough, car or no car![*thumbup*](https://www.caterhamlotus7.club/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png)
