  1. Right - is there anyone who would be willing to provide a few paragraphs for me for LF please?  With all UK championships seemingly under pressure for numbers, it's more important than ever that we promote the great thing we have going within our Club👍

If no-one feels able to put some words down, I'd happily have a call with someone and take notes and come up with something.

I'm off on holiday at the end of the week and know that if we leave this until I get back, memories will have faded, so would really like to get something sorted this week.  Many thanks!

  2. Have a great time everyone.  If someone could think to drop me a couple of photos by text/WA over the weekend that I could put on the Club's social media channels I'd appreciate it, and as per my earlier message, if someone could please write me a few paragraphs for LF, that would be amazing.  Thanks!

  3. Thanks a million to Paul Boston and Ivan Pullen who worked together to provide a report from Loton for August's magazine.  I'm not at Harewood either sadly, so who would be willing to provide me with some words for next month please?

    Thanks!

    • It seems now that I must test my Pertronix Ignitor which involves taking the (very hard to work on) dizzy to bits and turning the engine by hand and measuring change in resistance.

    specifically from a.i.

    I found this: **Signal Test**:
       - Reconfigure the multimeter to measure continuity or resistance.
       - Rotate the engine by hand so that the distributor rotor passes the magnet sleeve or trigger.
       - Observe the multimeter: you should see a switching signal as the magnet passes the sensor. A consistent change from open to closed circuit (or vice versa) indicates a functional signal.

Given I know 12 volts is going in to the Ignitor and no spark is coming out of the plug - and this immediately after switch off of a reasonably running engine.

edit: given the meter is attached at the coil end, in resistance mode, why do I need to take the dizzy cap off?

Wish I'd seen your post yesterday Anthony yesterday but I've just put a duplicate copy I have of Tony Weale's book up on Ebay!  (It's very, very useful for owners of classic Sevens).  Not attracted much interest yet if you were looking for a copy 👍 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/116265507834

  5. Sadly, I'm only able to attend Curborough 2 between now and the end of the season so I could really do with:

     - someone who'd be willing to write a few paragraphs about the event for a report in August's Lowflying

     - Someone on the day to send me some pictures that we can put straight onto social media.

    Thanks for your help!

  6. Those who weren't at Aintree missed a good day's motorsport - Liverpool Motor Club made their usual efforts to provide good value for money.  I baled out after eight runs and I see that at least a ninth was offered 😀

  8. Dear all,

We haven't (yet?) had anyone volunteer to write a report from the opening Championship rounds at Anglesey, and I'd really like to include something in May's LF, particularly as entries are a little weak so far this year.  As an alternative, is there someone who would be willing to have a call with me early next week so we can talk through what happened, I can take notes and build reports based on that please?  I go to print at the end of next week so time is rather short unfortunately.

Thanks!  Have a great time at Goodwood and look forward to catching up with everyone at Curborough.

  9. Hi Roger - sorry to see you hanging up your helmet but it's been a long and illustrious sprint career.  Seeing as you still carry the yellow trowel in your profile picture, I do hope you won't mind my posting what I think was the funniest series of pictures from Loton in '07 (something tells me you may remember the occasion!)  To anyone who wasn't there, be assured that the car (and Roger) emerged completely unscathed 🙂

  10. Right, having entered the Championship and secured entries at Prescott, I guess I should extract my head from the sand and start looking into helmets again in earnest.   Still struggling to get my head around the interplay between FIA and Snell.  Has anyone else had a moment of clarity?

  11. I believe Andrew may be travelling at the moment so please see below an extract from the provisional Club calendar 2024 that's in December's Lowflying and that will land on doorsteps this week.  It shows just the core Championship events, not the other invited events.  Hope that helps 👍

  12. Just for the record, the chassis stamp on slightly later Arch chassis is also on the rear suspension mount but in a different format.  This is my car (not very clear as has been repainted) but it says AM90 at the top (Arch Motors 1990) and J2 on the side for Jig 2 (they have/had 2 different chassis jigs, no doubt with slightly different tolerances, so this is to make sure the chassis goes back on the right one if it's ever back for repairs).

  13. I have heard (indirectly but from an authoritative source) linked to the MSUK sprint and hillclimb sub-committee that is that It is unlikely there will be an extension to the SA2010, but that if your helmet is to FIA 8860-2010 as well then it continues to be valid. They are separate standard, a helmet can be both, and many apparently are.

Not sure how many people that may help?
