  1. Nic Check your nosecone isn't rubbing on your rad. Best solution is to get the hole repaired by a specialist. regards Mick
  2. Headset Services do "in ear speakers" which also double as hearing protectors. They will also modify the microphone to fit on the arm of sunglasses etc. Result is a very lightweight Autocom system with full intercom/car-to-car/phone integration. Mick Edited by - Mick Day on 6 Sep 2003 17:09:29
  3. It is possible to replace the CRB on a K without removing the engine. Split at engine/bellhousing & move the engine forward. Gives enough access to replace the bearing but can't do any of the other tasks that may be necessary. Good luck Mick
  4. Bilbo You don't mention the actual temperatures across all 4 tyres Mick
  5. Probably picked up rubber off the track on your in run. regards Mick
  6. Honfleur's full of Brits, enough said ❗
  7. As far as I know a 1.8 flywheel will not fit the B/H, you need a 1.4 or 1.6 F/W. You will also need a new/modified engine loom plus VVC ECU to run it. Maybe a good idea to buy a Caterham lightened F/W? My modified 1.6K uses a "standard" Caterham supplied clutch but many use the AP uprated clutch. Mick
  8. This is strange as I had a Magneton starter fitted to my original 1.4 K by James Whiting - maybe a new spacer was used but I thought it was a straight swap. After swapping out the engine for a 1.6, James just dressed the block & it fitted without a problem. Since then I've swapped for a new Magneton supplied by Brise - unbolt the old & bolt in the new one. So is there another magneton variety on offer?? Mick
  9. A K series (wet sump) can be moved forward enough to change the CRB. Seen it done in the paddock on Le-Sept. Not tried it myself - yet! Mick
  10. Try Halfords 82 deg thermostat: part no.HTK 605. Fan switch comes from a 1980's VW Polo but quite cheap from Caterham. If you have an aftermarket ECU it can probably switch the fan for you; far more reliable than the standard set-up. Mick
  11. I would suspect that the sensor's playing up as they do in a K series installation. However best to check. Where's Blackbird Man when you need him 🤔 Mick
  12. Spot on Brent, but I think the standard (VW Polo part) switch operates at 92 - 95 deg. Considering the unreliability, in a Caterham installation, of this part make sure you have a manual switch for when it doesn't work. Or better still get the fan switched from the ECU. Mick
  13. Sorry to hear of your problem Tony but I'm sure Millwood will get you up & running. See you in Dijon. Mick PS: It is possible to push start a Se7en on the tunnell & indeed over most of France, however you do need some willing helpers!!
  14. The fan switch needs to sense the temperature at its hottest point so put it in the top of the rad. Mick
  15. Hi Slider@7 YHM as well Mick
  16. Hi Slider@7 I'm about to change to 13" wheels to rationalise for road & track. That means I will have 5 x 14" Caterham supplied minilite wheels (1994) presently shod with used 32R's. If interested send me an email. Mick
  17. Hoopy: what do you mean by the casing is cracked in the std manner? BTW Brise supply both the geared & the Magneton (Skoda part) starters & can refurbish them as well. When I was there last year they also had a new offering which had been supplied to Jonathon Palmer at Bedford. Mick
  18. It's easy to fit: 1. Jack up front of car & apply axel stands. 2. Unscrew speedo cable from R angle drive in left side of gearbox. 3. Use circlip pliars to remove circlip from R angle drive, drive then falls out. 4. Fit new drive & refit speedo cable as tight as possible. Mick
  19. So, is it the Caterham oil in the bellhousing route or the Pace system with the oil tank up front? Mick
  20. & what's wrong with Led Zep. When you're dazed & confused for so long it's not true, reading blatchat is useful!! Mick
  21. Similar situation to you until I switched to an 82 deg thermostat (Halfords HTK 605). My GEMS ECU switches fan on at 87 deg & off at 85. Temps even in hot France & in traffic are v stable. MBE ECU should enable you to program fan switch on to whatever you want. Mick
  22. Ditto - but mine's brand new! Mick
  23. I've started using an Ipaq with a Navman jacket. Works extremely well in the BMW towcar in the centre of the windscreen. Have now wired it up to an Autocom intercom for use in the 7 (sucker mounted to passenger aero-screen). Good voice direction with automatic route recalculation if you go wrong or ignore the instruction. Downside is that it's difficult to see the excellent graphics in bright sunlight. Hope to use it to full effect on Le-Sept this July. Mick

    Backlash?

As Colin said "they all do that sir". It's just one of the additional aural delights - enjoy. Mick
  25. Tony Have a look here . If I seem to remember correctly you already have an Emerald ECU & TB's. With a rebuild to 1.8 & suitable head modifications 180 BHP should be no problem. Mick
