  1. Hi Been watching this thread for a while. Will upgrade my K engine over the Winter so a Pace system sometime before Spring will be welcome. Not too sure what tank I will use but I guess it's the main parts from Pace that are part of the B/B. Mick
  2. To slightly hi-jack this thread: what smaller alternators will fit a K & what modifications (brackets, belts etc.) are necessary? By smaller I mean size wise not output.
  3. Quote "When you say 'fit a bigger rad', I guess this has to be sourced at huge expense from Caterham? I may give rad flush a go, but reading this section indicates that bleeding the system afterwards could be a nightmare." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Bruce At some point you will have to change the coolant so this would be the best time to change the rad. Maybe someone upgrading to an ali rad would have an old style "bigger rad" on offer?
  4. Bruce 1. Don't fit a standard 4:1 under bonnett exhaust but save up for a proper 4:1 equal length primary system (the sort you get from the performance exhaust place or Caterham). The latter gives better performance. 93 car doesn't require a cat; indeed your present cat is probaly "dead" as they have a limited life. 2. Assuming your car is a 1.4 K I had exactly the same experience regarding water temps. Cured by going to a bigger rad.
  5. quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take the fuse out of the windscreen washer squirter thingy, just in case you hit the button by mistake (can happen in the dark!!!!) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Or turn the nozzle round. Great for squirting pedestrian pedestrians 😬
  6. I've never bothered but maybe try B&Q or suchlike & look for the small rubber feet fitted to walking sticks?
  7. Simon On the subject of friction what do you think about this type of "additive" here. It's marketed as a metal treatment & NOT a oil additive. Mick
  8. Caterham use gauges made by Caerbont here in their latest cars in contrast to the VDO gauges they used up to about 1997. The VDO gauges react more rapidly & seem to be more robust (both the gauge & sender). I have a Caerbont oil pressure gauge on another car & it's as accurate as Tony Blair's promises. If you want a reasonably accurate gauge then use a mechanical one from Think Auto (Mocal) here. Good source for gauges is Merlin Motor Sport here.
  9. Some people reckon that supermarket petrol skimps on detergent additives. See here
  10. Apollo thread size for oil temp sensor is 1/8 NPT as well.
  11. Mines still in but I'm not happy with it. When the engine gets upgraded it'll be replaced with a dry sump.
  12. Check the plug lead cover screws aren't loose. makes an awful noise if they are. Edited by - Mick Day on 2 Jul 2005 10:52:04
  13. Tor There are a few of us GEMS users around, you're not alone ❗ Is it possible you could email me a copy of your spreadsheet? mday at avalon-oral dot co dot uk Mick
  14. Steve Greenald is your man: 07774-773824. Used to be in Ilford but now in new premises close by.
  15. 2nd top tip: don't spill petrol in your eyes as it hurts like hell.
  16. BOSS The 3 wire alternator I have is a Magneti Marelli with the following information on the sticker: 54022631 12V (serial number?) & Type: A127-55. As I said before this was purchased from CC in 1999 as a spare for a 1994 K 1.4 SS & has never been used. Mick
  17. BOSS It certainly takes a poly V: I'll check on the part number etc this evening. Mick
  18. I have a brand new 1.4 SS alternator which I bought as a spare from CC in 1999. Never used it & have now moved on to a different engine & alternator. It's yours for £48 if you want it.
  19. Oh dear the gates of Hades open yet again!...........It's mighty interesting though 😬
  20. Something like this here from Demon Tweaks? However I got mine from Maplin for £19.95 on a special offer.
  21. It's worth while taking the starter actuating wire & placing it directly on the battery. If the starter works then you don't have a problem with the starter. Even if you've fitted the " relay mod" it's worth doing this as your by now year old relay may have started to fail (just as the relay did in the MFRU originally). So treat the relay as a consumable & replace when necessary.

    Autocom

From what I understand Autocom buy from the same manufacturer as Peltor & put their own electronics inside. For some technical reason it is not possible to link Peltor to Autocom kit.
  23. Welcome to the "K" series club. Sorry can't help on the garage.
