  1. I seem to remember that Luminition ECU's are made by GEMS. May be worth giving GEMS a ring on 01784-470525 to check.
  2. Type 9 & early 6 speeders need a gasket & a little silicone. Later 6 speeders have an "O" ring on the sliding shaft, early 6 speeders don't.
  3. Popped it into my favourites: I'm sure it'll come in handy; thanks Adil. Mick

    VDO Gauges

Aborted sale so now for sale again
  6. Tiddy: have another look at the link. The starter from CC is 1.4kw & the one at Wood Auto is 1.0kw.
  7. Bottom mounting: piece of alloy plate with hole in it for the drain plug. Rivet to bottom chassis rail. Top mounting: use a jubillee clip around top chassis rail (piece of old rad hose underneath to protect the rail plus bulk it out a bit). Interconnect this clip with the big one around the tank.
  8. Hang on a mo, all John wants are contacts at the moment not a wallet opening excercise. Gearbox: Brian Hill: 01580-714114. Phil Stewart, Road & Race Transmissions: 01959-525105. Brian is in East Sussex & Phil is in Kent. Both v knowledgable & can advise on options such as 4 to 5 speed. Engine: don't know much about xflows but maybe Chris Wheeler at the 7 Workshop could point you in the right direction: 01992 470480. Oh & don't forget Redline at Caterham: 01883-346515 & James Whiting in Ashford: 01784-241466
  9. £4 each ball joint; so £16 for all 4.
  10. I assume it's for a K. I bought a new filter housing from Think Auto which allows pressurised oil in at the front of the housing. Part number FH6. You also need a blanking plug & -10 JIC to 1/2 BSP adapter. Have a chat with Matthew Potter at Think, 020 8568 1172, & he'll sort it out. If you decide to stick with the remote oil filter I've seen x-flows & BD's with remote filters fitted just in front of the headlight brackets.

    VDO Gauges

Water temp & oil pressure sold to Phil. Tacho is standard & goes up to 7500 rpm. So can I say you'll have all 3? Mick

  13. Costs £32 new from CC. Fitted 12 months ago & removed when dry sump fitted. This gasket can be used a few times without any problems. £12.00
  14. Painted Jaguar Green. These are quite old & have what you might call "a bit of patina". Only really suitable for someone who wants to spend a bit of time tarting them up. £15.00 Buyer collects.
  15. I have a spare oil rail if you need it. Mick
  16. Yes I noticed that, no better than my 1kw Magneton.
  17. Has anyone tried these starters: here
  18. Hmmmm......... my 4:2:1 is pre 2004, just had it nicely polished as well. So my options appear limited to the up-rated one from Brise. Kev: you're more than welcome to come for a ride. Shaun: thanks for the link to the starter motor thread. Edited by - Mick Day on 22 Mar 2006 12:33:50
  19. Just realised that I may need an uprated starter for my new engine. I currently have the Magneton starter ( 443.115.141.380., 12v, 1 KW, Made in Czech Republic) supplied by Brise. Will this be OK? What have others fitted? Needs to fit under a Caterham 4:2:1 manifold. Mick
  20. Well it all went together well. The only issue was no new filter housing, Pace sent a remote filter head instead with a circular oil feed disk. This allows for oil back into the engine at the back of the existing filter housing & the filter is mounted somewhere else; not ideal. So I've ordered a new filter head direct from Think which allows oil back in via the front of the filter head & a standard filter can be screwed on the back. Have a look at Mick Smith's instructions: here
  21. Aves: I have a new one which is no use to me. Supplied by James Whiting about 4 years ago. Blatmail me your details if you're interested. Mick
  22. I have an 82 deg stat, Halfords HTK 605. I just took the 88 deg jobby into Halfords & went through the book looking for something similar that would fit. I then opened the boxes & compared what the book said to what I had. Bought the one which was an identical overall size. Works OK.
  23. Headset Services will also do in ear speakers (the same as used in F1) to link up with the Autocom. This then doubles as ear protection (v necessary in the noisier cars) & communication. They also mounted the mic booms onto the protective glasses we wear.
