  1. Pah that's nothing. I remember seeing just the stub of the oil filter housing left . Oil filter gone the whole lot. Not my car & not too sure how they did it.
  2. From my notes when I fitted new ones in 2007: Front wings fitted 2.5" back from front of wing. Fixings 3.5" apart. Outer hole in strut is 9mm in from outer edge. Use 5.5 mm drill bit. M5 aluminium caphead fixings bought from bike shop.
  3. Quick rack yes. Widetrack.........ask the marketing department.
  4. Look up the relevant British Standard for tyre repairs & then take it to a reputable tyre repairer & ask them to repair to that standard.
  5. There are a lot of people around who I'd trust with my car: In alphabetical order: Andy Belcher Partridge Green Motorsport Redline Ben Rockey, The Classic Car Workshop, Pulborough. Chris Wheeler James Whiting Richard Young, Automotive Engineering , Uckfield These are people I've had work on my car or are close to me & have an excellent reputation.
  6. Similar experience to Nick with 21's & 48's. Refurb the 13's & get the 70 profile 21's. Avons? Haven't a clue.
  7. Quoting Peter Mears: Mick are you going 70 profile and do the 48s wear quickly? Yep moving to 70 profile. Expect about 5000 miles for a pair of rear 48's. Fronts last a little longer, maybe 7000 miles. About 4 to 5mm tread when new.
  8. Get a quote from Polley but expect maybe 50% more for 185/60/14 21's. I've used 48's for some time but as most 7 driving is now for touring I'm moving to the 21's.
  9. Small slide in the wet? You weren't trying Peter! Must be those Staffordshire roads to blame. 😬 Seriously tyres are a little old. 185/70/13 AO21's from Polley are about £60 each delivered so maybe hoik the also out of date tyres off the track wheels?
  10. I take it you had a nice blat? Lot's of interesting traffic travelling West to East from......................................GFOS.
  11. Quoting Jonathan Kay: There's an app for that There is also an Android App as well for those who live on the dark side.
  12. I hope so as I've been doing that for nigh on 15 years now.
  13. Keith Try Brise; quite closeish to Caterham in Dartford
  14. Good luck with the sale Steve.
  15. Try looking here Then do a search & pick up all the other threads.
  16. Another option is Paul Harvey at Western Road Garage, Shoreham.
  17. TADTS You could fit one of these.
  18. er..... maybe you should have fitted the clutch before replacing the engine. *confused*
  19. You need a 5w40 oil to API SJ & above. If you stick to the main well-known brands you can't go wrong. Some of us use the 5w50 oil previously mentioned but unless the car is regularly thrashed (on track?) then it's very much over-kill. No doubt you will change the oil very frequently, like most of us do, so maybe buy on price?
  20. It's much easier to torque up the front suspension fastners without the engine in place. But you need to do it with the weight of the engine on the supension. So get someone to stand in the engine bay whilst you use the torque wrench. Job done.
  21. Quoting Richard Price: Les, I think the standard temperature sender is 1/4NPT. Er no its 1/8 NPT!
  22. Good discussion on running a sealed system here. I run a non-sealed system.
  23. Unused & boxed (box never opened). Provided as part of an insurance settlement but not really suitable for us. Cheapest I've seen it advertised at is £137.98. Sell for £98. "1100W, 230V 32cm cutting diameter electric verticutter ideal for aerating and removing rooted thatch and moss Patented jet collect system provides a better collection, increasing convenience and saving time Fourteen slitting knives ensure deep rooted thatch and moss is cut and lifted The 2-piece, 50 litre rear collection box reduces emptying trips and splits for storage The four variable raking heights from +5 to -10mm suit all lawn conditions The Z folding handle and stackable collection box provide compact and easy storage"
  24. Ask anyone who has had a tyre blow out on a 4-wheel braked trailer & most would say they hardly noticed it. Ask anyone who has had the same with a 2-wheel unbraked trailer & they'd say it really messed up their day.
