  1. Hi Dave: Good holiday? The engine's fine: it's done 10 trackdays this year with no problems at all. Mick
  2. Sorry to hear the news Angus, however shouldn't be too difficult to fix. Tony drove my car back from Spa & managed 34mpg on the Autoroute. Pretty outstanding for a 227BHP DVA engine with mapping by the 2 Steves!
  3. Hi Adil Think Auto do adapters to allow diferent threaded sensors to be fitted to the housing. If you don't have a heater you could run a length of heater hose from the outlet to the inlet. However have a look here for suppliers of blanking caps. However Pete at RL has been here before & can either supply or point you in the right direction. Mick
  4. Neil: as I work in Crawley that'll be my 1st port of call this Monday. Regin: thanks for checking.
  5. *idea*Check the front wings are bolted on properly. Had a similar problem with a 924 in the early eighties: added 2 additional bolts either side near the scuttle, & the problem went away.
  6. Does anybody know the size of this thread?

    CSR oil change

*wavey*Having seen what happens when an overfilled K series dry sump system (bell housing tank) does to the immediate environment I think I'll park well away from you. The last time I was within spraying distance. Interestingly at Spa as well. Edited by - Mick Day on 18 Aug 2007 20:10:23
  8. A VDO one is usually the most compatable with VDO intruments 😬 Usually a 1/8 NPT thread. Try using a little PTFE tape on the thread. Maybe the thread in the housing is overcooked?
  9. If when you open the fuel cap & air gets sucked in you have a problem. Try the simple things 1st & disconnect the fuel breather. As a temporary measure run a breather pipe up to the top of the roll bar & down again to under the boot floor (many use this method all the time). See if that solves the problem.
  10. I've had my car 13 years. In 2002 I was faced with a gearbox problem plus a willing pair of hands (Adrian Elkin ) & the loan of an engine crane. I'd never removed an engine before. We took the engine out, delivered the gearbox to Road & Race, & refitted everything for the next w/e. It's not as difficult as it 1st appears. In 2005 I took the engine out on my own & again the following year for another problem. If you can borrow an engine crane then the owner of the crane will often help. Better still do what I did last time & bought my own here.
  11. I solved mine by removing the drive, installing a blanking kit (standard Ford part I believe) & fitted an electronic speedo off the front wheel.
  12. *wavey*Have a look here Edited to get the correct link to Tom's site. Edited by - Mick Day on 11 Aug 2007 13:12:37
  13. My tank used to have this config but I had it modified to remove eveything except a breather in the filler. So having said that I don't think it really matters where in the filler neck you connect these hoses as it works fine without.
  14. A few years ago my not very standard 1994 K series was presented for an MOT & before I could say visible smoke only he'd stuffed a sensor up it's rear. No cat or lambda sensor either. After a few moments he said that's OK & gave me a ticket.
  15. It's black & has a ring terminal at the end. Assuming it's original, or the person who added it understands the correct colour code, then it is indeed an earth wire.

    misfire

Hi John Fuel filter is behind RHS rear bulkhead. Jack up right rear & you'll see it. Myles's site hereshows it quite nicely. However I don't think you have a fuel problem, maybe an electrical problem after everything gets good & hot? Obvious things to check include plugs & leads. After that all the other sensor connections etc.
  17. It is servicable; any good brake specialist should be able to identify it & supply the correct service kit. Try Redline at Caterham or indeed CC.
  18. Not really: Sheffield is only 188 miles. With both Steve's not up & running until 11.00am it's an easy drive assuming the M1/M25 combination doesn't have an off day.
  19. Or rotate the rack in it's mountings a fraction.
  20. Just press the top of the switch to reset. I assume it's the same switch as fitted to the K series cars. Many re-site this switch in the cockpit so it's easy to reach.
  21. I have an unused one for a Caterham 6" exhaust can.
  22. Torqueing the suspension fittings with the engine in is not easy. So I did mine minus the engine with a complient person standing on the cruciform inside the engine bay. Much easier.
