    Garage Storage

Carcoon relies on mains power & Permabagfunctions without electricity. Moisture within PermaBag® is absorbed by means of a special drying agent (desiccant), capable of providing several months and years of safe, dehumidified and controlled storage. The desiccant is supplied in marine grade 316-stainless steel perforated cylinders, which can be reused time and time again by a simple process of regeneration within a normal household oven. A digital, precision Thermo-Hygrometer (supplied) monitors and displays the humidity within PermaBag, offering peace of mind as well as indicating when the desiccant needs to be regenerated. Any opinions on Permabag?
  2. Bearing,tap & square I can understand but door?
  3. Hi Alex My 6 speed is 12 years old. Each time it's rebuilt it is v stiff, however MTL helps a lot. Have a look here for another potential problem: www.blatchat.com/T.asp?id=153218
  4. I used some black alloy domed head M5 x 16mm fasteners with plastic nuts; 4 for each protector.
  5. If it's any consolation I've seen this happen before on a track day. We just took it off & bent it back. It's still on the car! And no it wasn't my car.
  6. Not yet it ain't! In the UK! Edited by - Mick Day on 19 Dec 2008 20:27:25
  7. Ye gods. The Hornet was THE performance racing dinghy that we all aspired to crew in in the late 60's in Plymouth Sound. It was the sliding seat everyone wanted to be seen on! Unfortunately they wouldn't let me crew in anger, as in those days I was a puny 8 1/2 st. ; but I got to helm! It didn't look the same when they allowed trapezes!
  8. Just start another thread.
  9. I took my new engine crane round to my son-in-laws to take his Mini engine out. V embarassed with the brewers droop! However pumping the jib up & down solved the problem. So by all means check it has enough oil, leaks should be obvious, but remember to give the old jib a bit of excercise 1st!
  10. If you try to torque everything up with the wheels on the ground you won't be able to get underneath to do the A frame to De-Dion tube fixtures. So the consensus is axel stands under the chassis to remove & re-install. Axel stands under tube to torque up fixings. Edited by - Mick Day on 5 Dec 2008 20:13:28
  11. Common problem. Do a search on here, then buy a screwdriver.
  12. Neil: there's more than enough capacity in the "standard" Brise tank; at least 7 litres all in. The small reduction the step introduces won't affect lubrication. Alaskossie: Blatmail doesn't support attachments so send me your email address & I'll send them to you.
  13. Adrian: you're right. Wet sump does not use the outer pulley wheras the dry sump scavenge pump is driven by this pulley. In the PACE set-up the redundant outer pulley is removed & replaced by a pulley supplied by PACE here.
  14. Cut-out was not a K series thing; it goes back to the rear exit exaust. The cut-out was to allow the pipe to exit to the rear of the car.
  15. The pulley protrudes enough to make it impossible to get a socket/spanner on the pulley bolt with the tank in place. If this is what your thinking about get Brise to make a step into the tank to allow this. It has been done before for Mick Smith. Sorry not near my car to take any measurements. However I do have some pictures & a copy of the original tank drawing. Blatmail me if you would like copies. Edited as didn't read you're using a CC scavenge pump, however the dimensions must be similar. Edited by - Mick Day on 1 Dec 2008 17:04:45
  16. I've been using a SPA OP gauge for 3 years now with no problems on my K series. However the sensor is on a flexible extension well away from vibration, rain & errant road debris. It might be adviseable to do this as I believe this goes a long way to ensuring longevity in a Caterham. By the way the SPA sensors are completely different to the ones supplied by Caterham for their own branded gauges.
  17. I believe the standard SPA senders are 1/8 NPTF. They were certainly a standard swap for my senders & I don't remember having to do anything special when ordering. Why don't you have a chat with them? Ask for Tony Taylor: 01827 300150.
  18. Depends where the small leak is. If it's a hole then yes get it properly repaired. If it's a rim sealing problem tyre fitters will often use some special sticky goo to seal. Maybe it's the same stuff in the aerosol? I'd be tempted to use an aerosol if I was sure the valve was OK & there were no foreign objects in the tyre. My can of Holts tyre weld says deflate tyre completly before using.
  19. Hi Roger Say hello to Barbara. When I replaced mine in 2004 the only thing wrong with them was the lack of grease! The bearings were still in reasonable condition & I only changed them because they were 10 years old. Mick
  20. If there is no switch how will the tester know that the hazard function exists?
  21. See ad in latest Low Flying, page 35.
  22. From JW's instruction sheet in 1999: "The calipers are without wiper seals (as the AP kit). This means inspection is recommended during the vehicles routine servicing."
