  1. I have 2 - 6" x 13" silver Minilites shod with worn A048's for sale if interested. Edited by - Mick Day on 29 May 2010 14:02:57
  2. Mine wasn't a spanner but my very expensive (£2.50!) pair of reading glasses. They didn't break only chipped a lens. They lived on for a few more years until I stood on them!
  3. Neil A standard clutch for a K series, 2000 vintage, was a Quinton Hazell part. I have a part used clutch plate & cover fitted in 2002 but removed as part of an engine upgrade in 2006. In all it did 12036 miles; some track days but no race starts. It's sitting on my bench & yours for free if you collect.
  4. To test whether its the gauge or sender at fault disconnect the sender & touch the wire to the engine block (or any earth point). Switch on the ignition. If the gauge is OK it should immediately give a high reading off the scale.
  5. Or you could try our perennial favourites: Track N Road
  6. You need a 7/32" allen key.
  7. If you don't know whether the bend was there before the "knock" I'd replace the tube. I'd also relocate the handbrake cable.
  8. Hi Steve A 30 amp fuse should be OK. Easiest way is to get a relay with a built in fuse: as per R30AF here
  9. WD40 may not do it, best results with carb cleaner.
  10. I took my clip out...............to prevent it falling into the bell-housing!
  11. I'll say this again....... If the oil is changed regularly then there is no need to drain the Apollo tank as most drains out when the oil filter is removed. Considering there is 7 litres or so in total, leaving a half to 1 litre within the system will cause no problem, especially as you'll be fitting a new filter. If you do drain the tank make sure it is well braced with another spanner on the big hex because if you don't you run the risk of at best distorting the tank & at worst damaging it beyond repair. If there is no big hex then I wouldn't even try!
  12. I have 2 for sale: Wheels for Sale 2 Minator Minilite style wheels supplied by Caterham & fitted with medium compound A048 tyres. Will fit any de dion Se7en. Both are in good condition but do have some marks where tyres have been fitted etc. One 205/60/13 & one 185/60/13 tyre, both with 2mm of tread so OK for a dry trackday. £90 the pair or £46 each, both silver.
  13. Hi Ray Glad to know you've got the correct diagnosis & removed the foam. I wish I knew why CC used foam & especially in this position because what does it do that the ali baffle doesn't do? In 2004 Gary May serviced my car & replaced not only the foam but the ali baffle as it had cracked; a common problem I understand. I decided to remove the foam altogether in 2005 & fit a Helier baffle along with the holey mod to the sump gasket. I was quite surprised to find a shaped block of foam in the sump with a neat cut-out for the pick-up to fit into. I can only surmise that Gary thought this a better place for the foam.
  14. OK I'll reduce price to £90 the pair or £46 each, both silver.
  15. 2 Minator Minilite style wheels supplied by Caterham & fitted with medium compound A048 tyres. Will fit any de dion Se7en. Both are in good condition but do have some marks where tyres have been fitted etc. One 205/60/13 & one 185/60/13 tyre, both with 2mm of tread so OK for a dry trackday. £99 the pair or £50 each.
  16. When you take the old sender out very carefully remember (better still take a photo) which way round it goes. If fitted 180 deg out it will foul a baffle & will read empty, or full, all the time.
  17. "The ECE R87 had harmonized the installation instructions for daylight running lamps across Europe in 1995. According to section 6.19.4 DRLs shall be adjusted in the front not lower than 250 mm and not higher than 1500 mm. Minimum distance between the two DRL is 600 mm and the maximum distance to the outer frame is 400 mm. DRLs conforming to R87 must be dimmed when the low-beam headlights are activated. The certification of LED ribbon lights for retrofit kits has made installation easier as matching vents in the front spoiler can be found at most car models. In Europe only LED ribbon lights matching R87 specifications will be accepted in the regular safety inspections." So the sensible idea for Se7ens using a higher power LED in the sidelight position won't be allowed. So where to stick the ribbon? On the leading edge of the front wings? Might upset the SVA inspector a bit. The real sensible option of course would be to allow dipped headlights instead of dedicated DRL's: or is that using too much common sense?
  18. Many will have seen this option on late Audis & Porsches; personally I think they detract not only from the looks of the vehicle but are also a distraction that will not lead to greater safety. Back in 1987 we had dim-dip headlights intended to illuminate when side lights were selected, however the EU prosecuted the UK for having a contrary lighting regulation & the regulation was abandoned. So how do you think a Se7en will look with these lights? How about these here? Edited by - mick day on 1 Apr 2010 17:49:05
  19. Why not ditch the copper washer & use a bonded (Dowty washer) seal? here
  20. You never know the Ford sensor may be OK. Fix up some extension wiring from the gauge wiring, & an earth, & drop the sensor in some boiling water. If it's close to 100° then you're done, if it's too far off revise the scale in your head.
