  1. Due for replacement, as one side leaking. CC price = 107GBP plus VAT Bilsteins complete per side. Is this good value? Intended road use only with standard road tyres. Car is 1994 K Supersport. Replacement looks straight forward, but any hints or traps for the unwary gratefully received, any associated items that MUST be replaced at the same time 🤔 Thanks Malcolm
  2. John thanks. I will see what the cycle shop can do. Tom Oddly enough all the cables seem to be designed to last the same length of time as the clutch cable came adrift 3 weeks ago. The current caterham item is considerably shorter than the original. The effect is an improved feel and lightness to the action. Malcolm
  3. The accelerator cable has just parted company with the pedal. Is this item a bespoke Caterham item, or is it to be found in another car thus available in Halfords? 1994 K 1.4 Supersport Intake at front of car adjacent to water expansion container Malcolm Hickey
  4. Thanks for the advice. Hopefully completed this coming weekend.
  5. Thanks for the advice. I rather suspected this isn't going to be easy!
  6. Dear All I have obtained a new tonneau with fittings kit plus tool and instructions. Before I proceed to make a dog's breakfast of the fitting, any hints or advice or warnings will be gratefully received! Thanks Malcolm Hickey
  7. Chris Thanks for the response. I need to add some oil! EM in W
  8. As a newcomer to this game, I have read this thread with great interest. Until now I thought checking the oil was a simple process, but now something about camels and committees spring to mind 1994 1.4 SS wet sump no additional oil 'goodies'. The dip stick is a long thin wire with a yellow handle and yellow plastic end. The latter has a cross hatched area on it. No notch. I have a March 2003 Caterham invoice from a previous owner for a new dip stick '446mm Modified'. Until today I have checked the oil cold and kept the level at the top of the cross hatched area. I have also today checked it hot and running and to my horror no oil shows on the dipstick. 😳 The car runs well and no evidence of oil surge on right hand bends (but I probably haven't owned the car long enough to put it at risk of oil surge) I have understood the reasons above about why the oil should be checked hot and running. Do I have the correct dipstick? If so, to what level should the oil be?
  9. You will regret attempting to replace the water pump by not removing the cylinder head. You will not be able to re-assemble the timing cover with its new cork gasket and make it oil tight. BTW I think the quality of pump bearings has alot to do with the premature failures. The original bearing on my Mk1 Lotus Cortina lasted 100k from new; the replacements each lasted about 10k, regardless of fan belt tension. I am not familiar enough with the T/C installation in the 7 to comment on whether it is necessary to remove the engine. malcolm
  10. Richard Apologies from a part time glider anorak! Ric Shall be painted, watching the weight. I fancy helis 😬 but my boys toys budget is very low at present ☹️ and I have not yet started to spend on upgrading my se7en 😬 Malcolm Denbigh
  11. Indicator problem is due to corrosion in hazard switch. New switch results in 100% reliability (until that corrodes!) Malcolm
  12. Ric what do you fly? I am ''into'' slope soarers. Currently building Chris Foss' Phase 6, in the middle of lightweight glass/epoxy resin coating all surfaces, whilst waiting for a new clutch cable and rear anti-roll bar bushes from Caterham. Loads of lift inducing hills around the Vale of Clwyd. Malcolm Hickey Denbigh
  13. The bushes are worn allowing lateral movement of bar resulting in the fixing bolt of the upper end of the vertical link touching wheelarch inner panels (using outermost adjustment) on both sides. Three questions: 1.Replacement bushes seems straight forward, but any traps for the unwary? e.g. centralising the bar? 2.Pros and cons of using alternative settings on the adjustable arm? 3.Should the vertical links be replaced (seem ok)?
  14. Sounds nice, but how much and where?
  15. *thumbdown*I don't have a Seven.... *thumbup*But I'm looking..... *wink*Lots of empty roads.... 😬The wife said "YES"
