  1. Another vote with Danny and Richard ( except I have thrown the GS pads away)
  2. Shaun: sorry for the thread hijack - what's the danger? ( apart from the obvious!) Thanks
  3. Darren and Martin I think you are both being a little hard on Charles. Potential 3 points on licence. Worse if you cause an accident, or death/injury of another road user. I too have been faced with the exact same problem, slightly worse as it was 0500hrs in late August (Curborough sprint) when it was dark. I elected to drive the trailer with no lights, as there was not enough time to take the car off the trailer and drive there. In retrospect I think it was the wrong decision, and next time I would do the same as Charles. Just my tuppence worth Malcolm
  4. Darren ''Mind you being first through behind the Blue Group driver as he shed his dry-sump belt approaching Lodge was also an experience'' Ahh! that now fits, I remember seeing a broken belt on the track just after the Yoko footbridge, thinking someone has lost an alternator belt.......I then found the oil at Lodge, before the warning flags had appeared *eek* Great day, just as much fun in the wet as dry, just different! 5. I take Darren's view, and given I'm not a top contender, I do it for fun. So will be doing both Club and Marshall's sprint, and Mrs EMW too! Anyway, painting the house/windows is very boring. Malcolm
  6. So who's going to keep me company? ☹️ Malcolm
  7. Mike, if not sorted see: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Caterham-7-Seven-K-series-4-into-1-Exhaust-Manifold_W0QQitemZ4651559068QQcategoryZ100921QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem malcolm
  8. Both!! Throughout the Lotus production run the blocks were selected 1500 cc pre crossflow. There is an L cast into the side of the block to identify it for Lotus. After the production ceased at lotus they were supplied as kits to Caterham. After the 1500 blocks were nolonger available , twin cams were built based on the 1600 Kent crossflow block, with GT crank and rods, and Lotus pistons. The block was machined 0.250" and a spacer was inserted on top of the timing case, so to restore the correct height, and the timing chain lengthened by two links with a revised tensioner mechanism. All this resulted in a taller engine, by about 3/8" I guess sump will need to match block type.
  9. Das I have a1994 small manual and the build manual.......in old fashioned paper. You're welcome to copy/scan. I can send both, or you can pick up if blatting into N Wales. Malcolm
  10. Hi Harrie I dunno about the gear change, but when are you coming into N Wales to show me your car? 😬 malcolm Edited by - Englishmaninwales on 16 Jun 2006 23:51:43
  11. 2nd dibs please for a spare ticket (If they are transferable) Malcolm
  12. I run a hellier baffle, no foam baffle, an appollo tank and a DIY gasket mod similar to Oily's modification in an 1800. The hydraulic camfollowers still rattle like hell on trackdays/sprints and the early VDO undamped oil pressure gauge is all over the place when the car is cornered hard. (I have trained myself not to look at the gauge anymore). My conclusion is that the oil is still foam and oil surge remains significant. I'm fitting a dry sump this winter. Just hope the bearings last until then. Malcolm
  13. Mark You should have me down as a YES Malcolm
  14. That's ok, as the nose of the first motion shaft is supported in the bearing in the end of the crank Malcolm
  15. Possible spotted! I was along there last evening, Paul Malcolm Edited by - Englishmaninwales on 8 Jun 2006 00:13:31
  16. ''If you do disconnect one link, I would put a tie wrap around it, to stop if flapping around'' Just simply remove one drop link altogether.
  17. Mark Disappointed, but I fully understand and support your decision. I shall be there to support and spectate, any class 2 competitors need a mechanic? Put me down for the 15th Malcolm
  18. Sorry.....8mmsocket! It was latewhen I posted 😳 Malcolm
  19. M8 and unless assembled with coppaslip the steel bolts will have corroded nicely to the alloy rivnuts . All is not lost as you can fit new rivnuts, next size up. Malcolm
  20. Tom I have some spare. I will bring them to MADS tomorrow. Malcolm
  21. Today, red aeroscreens just south of Welford. Great day for a Blat......I was stuck in a very boring car ☹️ Malcolm (Englishman out of wales)
  22. Mark 1 for me please. It's gonna have to be XL ☹️ Malcolm
