  1. Jeff, I think you have just seen the weather forecast Malcolm
  2. Yes, the RE720s were still available in April when I had a set from Polly, (but I changed to Stunners when I found a set of 15'' rims 😬) Malcolm Edited by - Englishmaninwales on 30 Aug 2006 14:05:02 Edited the dreadful grammar Edited by - Englishmaninwales on 31 Aug 2006 00:40:01
  3. '' However I am surprised at just how noisey it is, it certainly wasn't this bad before I did the head swap'' ''Don't underestimate the oil drilling issue. I've known of hydraulic tappets that have been transferred from one K16 head to another and had issues over the position of the drillings. I would think this is the most likely issue.'' I know of 2 standard K16 heads ( including mine!) where the drillings for the camfollower oil feed were poorly positioned, on the exhaust side in my case. The engine sounded dreadful and some cam followers never filled. With the cam carrier off and the follower in place, look down the oil feed hole with some light, you should be able the groove in the follower. In my case I had to open out the bottom end of the oil feed with a Dremel. Malcolm
  4. Also omit the spring on the manual tensioner. Malcolm
  5. Mrs K Well done for your PB on Sunday *thumbup*
  6. Head gasket may already be blown, accounting for the loss of coolant. ☹️ Edited to say just seen you other thread, so this isn't very helpful ❗ Edited by - Englishmaninwales on 23 Aug 2006 14:35:19
  7. I echo comments above about Brooklands
  8. I have done 12 k miles without foam and no probs
  9. So Nick, when are we seeing you up here to try all those horses out? 😬 Malcolm
  10. Danny Don't forget to factor in a new gearbox malcolm
  11. Thanks . Any more views on SPC out there? Paul, thanks for the offer, I may hold you to it! Richard , thanks for the gear calcs.
  12. Gerabox is getting sicker ( worn synchromesh 1st/2nd, noisy 3rd), so time for rebuild and ratios upgrade 😬. SPC is nearer, but I seem to hear more about BGH. Who's best? Malcolm
  13. I settled for a Quaife in the end when the ZF bulk buy fell apart. Works well, is available and has good manners.
  14. Given that half doors usually sell on blatchat within about 5mins of posting, the vast majority of buyers miss out. Putting them on ebay seems fair to me. At least then we all can have a chance!
  15. This is a light alloy fabrication with rubber one way flap valves that sits in the sump around the pickup. The idea is that it will maintain a pool of oil around the pick up and retain the oil there under surge conditions. Whether it works or not is open to debate. Do a search, there have been several threads.
  16. My new 1800 engine has been absolutely thrashed for 12k miles, including quite a few sprints/hillclimbs and trackdays, without the foam and no problem. I do have the sump gasket modification and a Hellier baffle ( of questionable benefit). So I suggest you can safely throw away your foam.
  17. I wouldn't. Just concentrate on driving, other cars and enjoy yourself. Edited by - Englishmaninwales on 19 Jul 2006 11:11:23
  18. Nick Sorry to hear it's not running well . I'm afraid I can't help as I know nothing about setting up crossflows, but I hope you get it fixed soon. Maybe it needs a run in fresh N Wales air! Malcolm
