  4. Brucey The original Rover engine number starts 1400K, 1600K or 1800K. ( unless of course it is an original Caterham engine, in which case the Rover number will the be missing ❗) Or measure stroke and bore? (1800 is a stroked 1600) malcolm Edited by - Englishmaninwales on 1 Oct 2007 14:49:38
  5. Kenrick's do my MOT ( Seven Service Agent in Llangollen) and they said the ARB needs to be connected. However, I had the droplink in my pocket (which I had taken, just in case)and the tester put it on for me *thumbup* Malcolm
  6. In addition to the radiator, you'll need to drain off some coolant from the bypass hose otherwise the engine/heater will still be full when you take the coolant rail off

  8. The things I don't know: Will any 1800 K block do ?(loads of Freelander ones on e bay & a new 120bhp 1800 Elise engine)YES. Do I use my head and cams as they are super sport items?YES Are there EU2/EU3 issues?NO, BOTH ARE COMPATIBLE Can I use my old sump on a newer engine if I drill the holes from 6mm to 8mm?YES Would it be easier to go 1600Kss route?SAME EFFORT AND COST, BUT BETTER OPTION IF 6 SPEED Realistically, how much is it going to cost and is it worth itI DID IT FOR £1200, SOME HAVE DONE IT FOR ALOT LESS (I HAD A NEW ENGINE BUILT BY DVA PLUS OTHER COSTS) With more torque, it would also make even more sense to add the long first box mod YES, GOOD MOD And how much difference does an extra 20bhp make to a 7? INCREASE IN TORQUE MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE Did you fit an apollo, the original starter and big alternator?YES Blatmail me and I'll send you full details! 9. David I had a brand new bare VHPD casting off Tom Carabine in May. Blat mail me and I will send you his email address. Malcolm
  10. LesG As Adams states, doing it the hard way! You can pick up the correct diff for next to nothing, then retain the standard driveshafts, and fit an LSD. The ZF LSD is a plate type, and requires modification, as the Caterham is light weight. The Quaife type is a viscous type, slightly different operation, but to all intent does the same job, but is a straight forward fit. There is a need for an LSD if you are going to race/sprint/hillclimb or do lots track days. Not necessary though if the car is for road use only. malcolm Edited by - Englishmaninwales on 23 Sep 2007 14:10:32
  11. Some argue that the oil capacity of the CC system with belltank is low, and that the ability of the CC tower on the belltank to de-aerate the oil is limited. So having the apollo as well addresses both. I'm not sure if this is all true or just speculation. Malcolm
  12. and what's wrong with flares... i wear them all the time 😳
  13. Topcat Does CC allow you now to enter the Academy if you already have a sprint licence? I enquired 3 years ago and they said no.
