  1. Use the original Rover engine manual as the Haynes Rover K-series engine manual has a number of torque setting inaccuaries 🙆🏻
  2. Tim As Brucey, fit the 1400 oil filter housing and sender. Ive had no problems with doing this on my 1800. I also think the earlier 1400 items are more durable than the later ones. Malcolm
  3. I'm sure that's fine. Don't forget to remove the bell housing.
  4. Or maybe the person who first built the car 🤔 FWIW my car was a 1994 factory assembled car and I was the first person to dissasemble the car when it was 9 years old. Everything had been assembled with coppaslip. Maybe if you'd thought about it first, and used the plusgas or such like. The front suspension is pretty exposed to water/salt ingress and general road crud. Rather than being quick to blame CC, who may not have built the car? Malcolm
  5. Tim, it's a while since I did this, but looking at my drawing/measurements made at the time, I removed 8mm. My measurements were: g/box front face to end of 1st motion shaft = 207mm; depth of spigot drilling in crank shaft = 27mm; first motion shaft protrudes 30mm beyond bell housing; bellhousing depth = 178mm; g/box front face to bottom of crank spigot drilling = 199mm. This resulted in 8mm needing to be removed, and seemed to work OK! You can do it easily in situ with a cutting disk, just cover everything up esp the fuel lines as there loads of sparks. The metal is quite soft an cuts easily. Dont forget to put a bevel on the end to aid refitting to the engine. Malcolm
  6. I will take the quickshift. I have emailed you with details. Thanks Malcolm
  7. If the quickshift fits a 5 speed, I'll take it. Any idea if it does? Malcolm
  8. Mark Thanks. I will speak to them on Monday. BGH have none and get their supplied from CC. Maybe R+R will have one.
  9. page 196 2008 MSA Competitors' and Officials' Yearbook or here about halfway down the index. You will need to log on to the MSA website. Malcolm
  10. oi, jus coz i've gotta chavvy motor, at least i still get me grammer roight, innit? [:o (paddock's) Speedy 205 GTIs rule ok
  11. Does the matching involve removing metal from inlet track, cylinder head or both? (Jeff, don't forget the L7C class 2/3 sprint regs for 1800 ❗) Malcolm Edited to add that I must type faster, and the Boss has passed judgement Edited by - Englishmaninwales on 12 Feb 2008 13:10:55
  12. As title, 12.8cm front housing Thanks Malcolm
  13. Tam, have you retained the flared wings? Malcolm
  14. There must be at least 3 more broken LSDs then, after Loton Park 😳 😳
  15. Neil When I change from 14" minilites to 15" Prisoners (road to sprint) I use the wheel nuts supplied with the respective wheels. I will look at both set and see if there's a difference. I also fitted longer studs as the open nuts with the Prisoners were not fully engaged (no idea with the closed nuts) and some scrutineers were unhappy. Malcolm
  16. Stu Not enough oil in the tank
  17. I suppose you will be losing sleep over the extra weight of your new strut, Richard. Talking of weight, how's the diet going? You may be pleased to know I've lost loads When's the weigh in?
  18. John The Apollo does provide extra oil capacity but acts to de-aerate the oil. It does not provide adequate surge protection in the circumstances you describe: Under sustained lateral g force the oil pickup in the sump may become uncovered resulting in low or zero oil pressure, regardless of how much oil is in the Apollo. Malcolm
  19. Hi Gram Non Race National B You do not need to undertake any training or test for sprinting or hillclimbing. Malcolm Edited by - Englishmaninwales on 2 Feb 2008 18:35:11
  20. Welcome! No. The apollo is an air/oil separator does not provide oil surge protection like a dry sump, but helps prevent bearing damage from aerated oil in a wet sumped K series. Essential addition for track work, if you do not fit a dry sump system. However it would require an alternate site and oil pipes for LHD. malcolm
