  1. It is a very simple mechanism inside. From memory, a sealed motor, a gear and a cam. If it works, I'd leave it alone Malcolm
  2. If you send me a blatmail I can email you photos of the CRB, bellhousing, release arm and gearbox nose. Malcolm
  3. ....and i can confirm Richard has used his brakes hard, judging by the blue colour of the front disks yesterday 😬 Graham, Ive also omitted both metal and sticky backed anti rattle inserts for several years now, and I do not get squeal or rattle. Malcolm
  4. Needs to be road legal for class3.......but I won't say a word to the scruts
  5. The CC DS fitting instructions are clear:- Final Assembly, item 9 'The belltank housing should be filled to approximately 10'' from the bottom with synthetic oil.....' Malcolm Edited by - Englishmaninwales on 24 Mar 2009 23:22:58
  6. John I'll dig out my assembly guide and see if it agrees with the owners manual with regard to the torque. Looks like they have reduced the value on later cars. Malcolm
  7. Recently I asked myself the same question, and although I had kept them labelled I thought they looked identical, but I expect someone will be along soon to clarify! Malcolm
  8. Hmmm...My Caterham Owner's Manual states 60 lbft f(78 NM) or the upper and lower damper mount, 1994 dedion.
  9. The cause of this leak has 3 possible causes. Firstly ensure the water rail is not cracked, then ensure the mounting face on the water rail is flat and finally shorten the fixing bolts as they can bottom out in the cylinder head bolt holes. Mine leaked as a result of the latter two. Malcolm
  10. or 😬 Edited by - Englishmaninwales on 22 Mar 2009 00:42:53
  11. I have confirmed that there are still places available for those (like me) who have yet to send Goodwood entries in... 😳 Got my finals today for HDLCC members (sneaky) practice at Loton 28th March - minimum of 5 runs 😬 Malcolm
  12. Brake fluid all over the garage floor.....don't ask.....one of those days ☹️ Edited to add...wouldn't have minded quite so much if it wasn't the expensive stuff! Edited by - Englishmaninwales on 14 Mar 2009 22:06:11
  13. Have you got a contact number or email for the seller? thanks Malcolm
  14. Martin I think you will need the engine wiring loom for the VVC also, as your 1400 ss loom wont be compatible with the non stepper motor throttle body on the VVC and the ECU.....but I expect someone will be along shortly to correct or confirm. I found it an easy swap by fitting a non VVC 1800 ss and retained all the induction/ wiring / ECU from the 1400, changing only the injectors. There are a few other minor modifications necessary, do a search as there is loads on this in the archives. Malcolm
  15. On the ali BGH lid the dip level is taken when the dipstick is screwed in finger tight. Mine has has 2 marks, lower for track use and top level for road use. Malcolm
  16. Good modification, if a little expensive. Combine it with a drain, it makes draining and filling the gearbox a 15 minute job. Blat mail me if you want some photos. Malcolm
  17. How do you bypass it? (sorry not much good at electrics) Do I just connect the two wires together?
  18. Robin The tensioner is mounted to the cradle with 2 shouldered bolts M8 (8.8) 24.5mm long (tip to shoulder). You need 2 spacers (for a gold pump) 20*12.5mm. These pass through the rear mountings. If you want a photo of the setup blatmail me and Ill send. Malcolm
  19. Robin I look at my DS setup tomorrow and measure the tensioner to cradle bolts and the spacers. Malcolm
  20. as said. Use the proper C spanners, otherwise you'll bu@@er the platforms Edited by - Englishmaninwales on 7 Mar 2009 09:34:15
