  1. Next closest is a 4.1 (although I think the CWP is an aftermaket gearset )
  2. I suspect you'll find the pump is ok, as Stu says they are robust. I'd suspect you have an airlock, especially if you have a wet liner block 1400cc K, which are very difficult to refil and bleed.
  3. !. Yes, better but see below 2. Yes I retro fitted widetrack to my '94 chassis (pre anti dive setup). Main issue is that it has made bump steer worse on the road, but I intend to try and adjust this out. Not noticeable on smooth tracks. Edited by - Englishmaninwales on 28 Jul 2012 09:49:47
  4. Quoting Nigel Fox: Chris will need a windscreen for entry into a roadgoing class at Harewood. Is that peculiar to Harewood? Ive entered the roadgoing classes regularily ( at Loton) - never been an issue with an aeroscreen
  5. I've got the supersport engine fixed now, so will be Class 3
  6. There is a late entry from me last week, hopefully not too late
  7. Thanks Dave. How much tolerance do you allow... +/- 0.001"? I guess the shims are case hardened, so grinding them not permissible?
  8. Should this be done with the cylinder head torqued down to the rest of the engine (and so allow for any head distorsion) or can the clearances be checked reliably with the head off the engine? Malcolm
  9. Quoting skydragon: +1 It's possible...but be prepared to swear and sweat a bit in the process... The critical bit is to remove the Caged supplied head restraint bracket. Impossible without doing so.
  10. Tillett seats can be removed without removing a standard SLR cage. Tight fit, but possible
  11. Hi Stu I used 2 or 3 short lengths of plastic tubing cut longitudinally and fitted to the braided hoses, clamped in place by thin cable ties. The brake hose is then off the dedion tube. If you can wait until tomorrow I will measure up. Malcolm
  12. Replacing the nose seal doesn't always stop an oil leak from the nose of the Sierra diff(presuming thats why you're changing the seal). Phil at R+R advised me as follows: When the flange is off, chemically clean the splines and the flange with brake cleaner and reinstall the flange on the splines with a liberal amount of RTV. Cured my oil leak that persisted after changing just the seal. Undoing the flange nut is best done with the diff out, undone with an air gun at a garage or ATS.
  13. Payen head gasket sets advise replacing the early oil rail with the lastest Land Rover version. Is there an inherent weakness in the early version or is it simply a function of the number of times the head bolts have stressed the threads in the oil rail? (The earlier one is a nice die casting and the replacement, whilst sturdier looking, is a poorly sand cast version. Looks like it also needs a little fettling to allow fitting the Caterham dry sump).
  14. As Matthew says, leaving the detail for Mark, it was an extremely impressive qualy and race today.
  15. What is the current version of the K series head gasket, if possible with a part number? Thanks
  16. Stu Can you email me a contact phone/email for Paul? thanks
  17. Richard, I think the Marshalls were being kind to you on your T2 in giving you a time at all with your grassy excursion....
  18. Friday 0700 hrs near junction B4501/ A543
  19. Quoting Charlie's Angel: I seem to remember that when Dr. Hickey sent Jessica out without a valid tax disc Charlie sent us after him and he was duly deducted points. No, I just got stitched up in a kangaroo court (but luckily on the day in court the Judge had bigger fish to fry, as Mr Rioja had committed a more heinous crime). PS please don't tell Judith about Jessica
  20. Richard At least Mike's car didnt try setting itself on fire when you were driving it Malcolm
