  1. Quoting Mankee: Sometimes they can be seized into the upright, which is a bit of a pain. But there is a kind method using a nut and a bolt to "pop" the pin out of the taper without resorting to massive hammers, ball joint splitters and lots of blue language. mind you, if you are changing the ball joints, it doesn't matter if you shred the boots, I guess... here Works every time
  2. The Vecta immobiliser is very unreliable on 1400 ss and is likely to leave you stranded so is best removed. Do a search on here and there are several threads. The original company that supplied these is long gone.
  3. Hi Jonathan Please put me down for one of your spares Thanks Malcolm
  4. Well done for fixing this Mike, it seems the owner of the Stag walked out yesterday!
  5. CC loom or Rover engine loom? I can do the former. Malcolm
  6. Stuart I got the same as Stu Forshaw,(1800 k ported VHPD head and cams, Jenvys, Emerald made 220bhp and 161 lb ft on Emeralds rollers) with the same injectors. Malcolm
  7. Quoting johnv: Quoting Englishmaninwales: IMO not good practice to jack on the central crucifix. 😳 that's where they told us to jack up the front on the GTKYC day! That doesn't necessarily make it good practice. As I said...IMO *smile*
  8. As Mav and Dave Morris. IMO not good practice to jack on the central crucifix.
  9. I think single occupancy is £75, but Judith will check tomorrow Malcolm
  10. There is a double room still available at the Stag Inn Redhill , about 10 minutes walk (allegedly 😬) from Billsley Manor Hotel £75 B+B for the Awadrs Dinner night. Judith block booked 4 rooms and this one is still free. Please let us know asap otherwise we will cancel it. Malcolm
  11. Gary Thanks, that sounds all reassuring about the front end chassis replacement . Malcolm
  12. Thanks everyone, very helpful. My car has removeable engine bay triagulation and Arch will retain this. Paul D - YHM Malcolm
  13. After bending my car at Anglesey recently, it will require a trip to Arch for a new 'long front'. The car has a 1994 'universal chassis' fitted up for a K series. I am considering fitting the later post 1996 design with 'improved' front suspension arrangement. Bruce at Arch confirmed this is possible but I' m interested to hear from anyone who has already done this. Other than the differences in the pickups for the wishbones and dampers and increased length of dampers, are there any other considerations and 'gotchas'? I think the expansion bottle pick ups differ requiring the later round type expansion tank. Malcolm
  14. You've already had my spare one! You must be collecting them Malcolm
  15. As Stu says for the turret bolts and also use lots of coppergrease. I ve just removed my cage and they came out easily, compared to the previous occasion when I removed the roll bar fitted by CC in 2004...
  16. Yes I've done that and when the screw driver slipped it shot across the garage
  17. here (The item description is incorrect as it is a crank locking tool)
  18. Shaun If you are going further into the engine (and the engine is out of the car), a crank locking tool is essential for the front pulley bolt. I can send you mine if you wish, or look on eBay - they are about £20 Malcolm
  19. Me too, if I'm not too late? Thanks. Malcolm
  20. Jez That wasn't clear in your original post. To imply it is a folly (without clarifcation) might result in people with road cars buying new hubs at every front wheel bearing change, which IMO is not necessary. I agree that for a race car the threshold for replacement of all components is much much lower, and indeed that is how I treat my car (that spends 99% of its time as a hillclimbing and sprint car) Malcolm
