  1. That's odd. Certainly Andrew is correct, for standard rear calipers, that there is one spacer per caliper fixing bolt, hence 2 per side. I'm not sure about updated rear calipers.
  2. Quoting evotell: Quoting Englishmaninwales: Hmm.. I've always fitted gearbox and engine seperately, prehaps that's why I've always found it easy Tell me more. What else would you like to know about? (Edited to add - We could discuss the fixing bolts for the off side engine mount on your Cooper S, now that is a challenge!) 4. Quoting evotell: Are you connecting the prop shaft before you put the engine & gearbox in? 😳 Why not?
  5. I presume you mean the honeycomb tank protection above the tank? It took me ages the first time, but now takes seconds. I afraid it is about angle and position! I know that is no help to you but keep trying and it will go in. Put some masking tape on any exposed paint and take care not to dent the car boot skin from the inside. Really difficult to describe but here goes. Insert it from the offside, lengthwise in a near vertical position in between the main part of the roll bar and its rear angled supports. In plan view, it is diagonally across the boot space from behind the damper cover on the off side and the rear corner on the near side. There is just enough room for it to go. If you still can't get it in I can post a video clip...
  6. Hmmm... me thinks cutting the corners on those red and white Harewood curbs especially the left kink before Orchard 😳 (that's where I did my oil filter housing and sandwich plate in ❗
  7. Rob I wash the belltank and oil lines with Gunk and then flush with water, followed by a through drying, overnight on the Rayburn (not the hotplate ❗)does the trick. Makes the kitchen stink of Gunk, but Judith knows it will make the car go faster Malcolm Edited by - Englishmaninwales on 5 Feb 2014 01:13:53
  8. Dave I've got a canvass/metal frame covered BJ Clubman with tiltbed which is all pretty large/heavy and is dead easy to push around.....You're welcome to come over and have a try ( and have a beer! ) Give me a ring. Malcolm
  9. Hi Martyn I ll have it. Cheers Malcolm
  10. Hi Elie I have a spare Rover one with its connector if you want it - if I can find it. I'll have a look for it and drop it in the mail for you FOC Malcolm
  11. Elie, The converted mini rack in early Caterhams also has lock limiting collars. Even still the turning circle is will be smaller than the current Titan made Caterham rack. The lock is a problem if you have cycle wings rather than flared wings, as the wings will hit the side skin. Malcolm
  12. Quoting SM25T: Road and Race charged £170 each unit plus any parts used. That was a couple of years ago. Top chaps +1, now £250 (gearbox only) including return carriage Edited by - Englishmaninwales on 17 Dec 2013 08:34:56
  13. I managed it quite easily with the engine in situ. Make sure you use an OE seal as I found an non OE seal to be undersize ☹️
  14. Coolant airlock, cap failure, cylinder head gasket failure or cylinder head porosity. Last two ☹️
  15. Glass fronted yew veneer corner cabinet. Excellent condition and has been in dry storage last 25 years. Lockable door, original shelves and wall fixings. Photos available. Collection or delivery by arrangement. £50
  16. I would bet that the bearing outer was loose in the hub.....
  17. Tom I fitted wide track to my 94 car and found that it generally made the 'feel' of the car better, but didn't improve track times. It made bump steer worse which needed attention and the front spring rates need a change as the damper/spring ends up a more horizontal position than on a post 96. I have a pair of lengthened AVOs which will suit your per 96 set up if you wish, which are surplus as I fitted a post 96 long front after my crash Malcolm Edited by - Englishmaninwales on 28 Oct 2013 07:30:38
  18. Lower wide track wishbone RHS. Suit 96 onwards imperial car. See here 3 years old 5k miles no corrosion. A few stone chips/scratches but overall condition is good. Complete with serviceable spherical joint. £60 +P&P
  19. Head restraints, to suit pre S type leather seats, please Malcolm
