  2. Hey you guys! The sun will be shining and you wont need these garages ;-)
  3. I may have been lucky, but the two occasions I've had dealings with him, he has supplied me prompty Malcolm
  4. Quoting Roger Ford: I repeat - what does your policy say? Thank you, Roger, I did see your comment . Well of course I intend to look at it, it's just that at this moment in time I am unable to do so. I was, however, just looking for some opinion, which you and David have kindly provided.
  5. Very few items on the my car deviate away from standard or CC approved upgrades relating to steering or suspension, and the braking system is 100% standard with the exception of the front pads. The difference here is that there is a specific statement by Mintex on their product (albeit due to ECE R90). As David says a sharp eyed investigator (insurance or police) might take issue. Maybe depending on how big the claim or disaster is. David, the detail on the pads is 10075437 MGB533 M1144 Mintex Racing. ....And Ray, you already know how well (not) my brakes work on wet grass
  6. For years I have used Mintex 1144 pads on my standard 2 pot front calipers with cheapies on the rear. Recently I bought a new set. However I have never seen the warning on this set of 1144s before -''This material must not be used on public highways.'' Hmmm....Fitting these - does this invalidate my insurance? (There are identifying part numbers on the pad metal backing too). Deviating from standard equipment as fitted by the manufacturer, I suppose. Malcolm
  7. Hi Brian Me too please, for the Sunday. Thanks Malcolm
  8. I'm pretty sure there is a notice 'gates closed at 11pm' but I don't know if enforced.
  9. Charles I needed a shortened bolt on one of the fixings as the bolt bottomed out. This was the cause of the leak in the first place. (Sorry I know this doesn't help your specific query!) Malcolm
  10. But Alan, too soon - I've had 2 offers by email that are for more than your donation 😳 so I won't be sending just yet. Your donation has gone to a good cause though
  11. OK Alan, As you have an empty trophy cabinet, and your feelings have been sore for so long I'll consider letting you have it, under the terms in your post. I'll match your £10 too But, I have had emails from other people interested in the trophy, so there may be some who might not want you to have it
  12. I'm sorry Alan, free ONLY to a good home
  13. here Edited to fix the link and get the date correct Edited by - englishmaninwales on 25 Aug 2014 19:34:02
  14. Marshall's Curborough Sprint Trophy Class win August 20012. Classes 2/3 amalgamated. Unwanted trophy as there was no competition on the day. Free to a good home. Edited by - englishmaninwales on 25 Aug 2014 19:29:01 Edited by - englishmaninwales on 25 Aug 2014 19:32:25
  15. Quoting Ben Fung: The reason for it being "fairly" urgent is i am in Anglesey atm and live in Surrey and its highly likely that my 5 hr drive home I am going to encounter my fair bit of traffic. Chris Chris When are are you travelling home? I'm in Ruthin N Wales and close to the A55 (or A5), so you will pass close en route, if you want me to take a look at the problem. I'm away tomorrow (Sunday) but around all week from Monday. Malcolm
  16. I came across this yesterday changing the oil on a car with an early apollo tank - I have only seen them before with, as you say, a 32mm hex on the base. The drain plug takes a 10mm hex but luckily it had not been over-tightened previously, and was easily undone. Hopefully yours will undo easily. Just make sure the tank is held securely, prehaps with an assistant, whilst undoing the drain plug. Quoting Wrightpayne: I never bothered with draining the Apollo - only a bit left in the bottom and prob more left in the engine! Ian I always find at least 2 litres of oil in the apollo, even when it has been standing for a period
  17. Dave I've got an identical one if you want it? Same price +P&P
  18. Quoting Jonathan Kay: 52 hits in the archives, including this. But someone might have a bag left over... Jonathan Jonathan I know the archive is useful but...sometimes it is quicker and more simple to just ask the question and get a useful answer inside 1 hour compared to trawling through 52 threads in the archive, some of which are over 10 years old. I suppose it depends on how much time one has to spare and how up to date the advice needs to be. Malcolm
  19. Lets hope the time keeper is not the same one as in 2007 ☹️
  20. Quoting Mankee: Quoting SM25T: There is a flat under the gearbox ... looks like a place for a drain ? My latest gearbox has this modification. I used a Peugeot/Citroen magnetic drain plug from an MA gearbox. Can't remember the exact thread size. The other side of the flat is the standard magnet, which needs to be removed. There's not that much material thickness, but enough for the plug to be wound in a few threads and I've used a dowty seal plus PTFE tape. Not done a full leak test yet as its sat on the garage floor, but it's torqued up to 25nm fine and I will be using a vented top cover anyway. BGH will fit a drain plug in this area. One of the best modifications I have done to the car.
  21. With respect to the wiring connectors, it depends upon the age of the car. Earlier cars will have bullet connectors and can be a real pain if corroded, or hopefully you have the later multiplugs.
  22. New records - well done Steffan and Shaun plus also all the class winners. Hmm maybe I need to come back to class 1 to try and get it back Malcolm
  23. Sorry no picture, but when I had TBs fitted I ran the system fully open to atmosphere. The cam cover (earlier type than shown in your picture) rear vent sucks cold filtered air from BS airbox via the back plate, the front vents to the catch tank. The tower top vents to the catch tank also. The catch tank vents under the car so, no fumes in the engine bay. Absolutely no problems with excessive oil consumption, crankcase over pressure or vacuum, run mostly on track. But there are different ways to do this. Malcolm
  24. Dave I 'm glad you've identified the cause of your probs! I made up a new lead - Marplins sell the multicore cable and I soldered up the connectors, but I guess you don't have a Maplins around the corner! Emerald used to supply the lead, maybe they can send one?
