  1. A 1990s car will have the later style pedal box with a removable cover. The chassis number is stamped under this cover on the chassis frame. It is also stamped on the wiper mount, but the scuttle needs to be removed to see this clearly. The Arch jig number (1 or 2) is stamped on the chassis adjacent to the roll over hoop mount on the RHS. This can get hidden if the car has been re painted.
  2. As title. This would be fitted to 1400K Supersport with metal plenum and forward facing throttle body, circa 1992-1996. Anybody upgraded their old 1400 to 1600/1800 and with Jenvys got one lying around? I'd be happy to take the whole throttle body if not willing to split. Thanks. Malcolm
  3. You need to talk nicely to Big Head, they sold 20 to me last week! I can spare a few if you are stuck. Malcolm
  4. Colin The discs are cheaper from Rimmer Bros, same as Triumph Spitfire Mk4 front discs, part no 208715. I paid £11.96 + VAT + carriage in 2014. Malcolm
  5. That should be fine. I've never had any problems with airlocks refilling with the top hose QED stat. Mine came (second hand) with a disc with a large central hole to fit in the Rover stat housing in place of the stat. Stops the rubber seal distorting. I also fed the bleed from the QED stat housing with a tee piece into hose from the expansion chamber to submarine pipe.
  6. David, if you are insisting on being an English Man In Wales get the spelling right. Otherwise the Welsh will laugh at you. Guess how I know
  7. Tom I fitted widetrack to my 94 chassis, it seemed to made bump steer worse, really awful. After a new long front, with post 96 geometry, fitted with 9mm rack spacers (thanks to Mankee) the car was trasformed. But I don't know which change improved the car . Don't forget you'll need longer clamp bolts (1/4" UNF fine - I think 2 1/2" long) and the holes in your sideskins for the track rod will need careful fettling. Malcolm
  8. Maybe your TPS / connection is the problem. I ve had an intemittent 'hunting' at idle due to dirty contacts on the TPS multiplug. Try wiggling the multiplug whilst running to see if there is a change and try electrical contact cleaning spray. The female connectors can be removed from the multiplug body to aid cleaning by using a very fine flatblade screwdriver (depress the tang on the connector and a simultaneous gentle pull to remove). Also clean the male connectors in the TPS. If not dirty contacts I have a functioning spare early TPS (EU1 not EU2 according to Oily - see above) I can send you to trial if you wish - it is different from the later TPS. Malcolm
  9. If your engine is 1400 EU2 the idle is set by a stepper motor moving the throttle spindle, controlled by the ECU. There will not be an IACV. Try resetting the ECU as described above. Chech the connectors to the stepper motor (5wire multiplug) and TPS (3 wire multiplug) at the throttle body. If it is a supersport forward facing throttle body, the stepper motor wiring is an extension of the original Rover loom and the extension multiplug/wiring is cable tied to the RHS engine compartment chassis diagonal. This multiplug can come loose/disconnected. Edit....also on the EU2 supersport, if the RHS engine mount is broken/sagged, the engine only needs to drop a few mm and the stepper motor housing and multiplug on the TB gets mashed on the chassis.
  10. I used a centre punch to create a couple of small high points on both the felt seal carrier and dust caps.
  11. If you really fancy a trip to Anglesey for the two October sprints, take a few extra days holiday to tour around too. I can help out with several trailer/towcar(s) storage on site here. (That also applies to any L7 club member too, if planning a touring trip in North Wales ). Malcolm
  12. Mark Lawyer? I'm not sure you'd win any damages as there's a whiff of truth about it all!
  13. I must admit I ve only ever used that locking tool when the engine is out of the car, using the 2 engine to bellhousing fixings at the top of the block. I have never thought of trying it through the starter motor hole - I guess at least one of the holes in the tool lines up with one or two starter fixing holes? Malcolm
  14. The K series crank sensor is under the No 4 inlet about halfway down the block. The crank sensor body(EU2) is 16mm in diameter and a sung fit in its hole. I ve never tried locking the crank there. I find the screwdriver in the ring gear usually does the trick. Malcolm
  15. Tom, I ve re-skinned twice now and done both! Much greater risk of damage the the chassis tube with a drill, ending up with an enlarged hole. Also a sharp chisel and hammer is much quicker. The only downside with the chisel is if you are intending to re-use panels and avoiding damage.
  16. If we regulate for the standard plenum and 52 mm TB for the K series, will the 1400 SS plenum with its forward facing 56mm TB, as supplied by CC, continue to be allowed as previously?
  17. I came across this link in another motor forum. Apologies if these issues have already been discussed on here. http://www.oilem.com/potential-issues-with-waterless-engine-coolants/
  18. But as bonus for not completing the lap, Mark, I had the pleasure of looking at the remains of your front suspension and a bit of Longcross tree for a whole year Alan, I ve got some more trophies up for sale soon if you're interested, and as you are such a nice person I can do you mates rates
  19. Hmmm..Sounds interesting! Got this email today: To Longton Club Competitors For 2015 we are considering whether to run the Saturday Anglesey National layout as a 2 lapper, similar to that used by other clubs (MGCC/L&CCC; Chester MC). Can you please vote whether you would prefer the 1 lapper or a 2 lapper, noting that the 2 lapper may result in less overall laps. Please vote by emailing Craig Powers on cpowers@blueyonder.co.uk by midnight Friday 14th Nov. If you Don’t Care one way or the other then still let me know by email. It all adds to the democratic process. This question relates ONLY to the Saturday. I will also be asking invited clubs and championships. Regards, Craig Powers
  20. Would you be willing to sell the spare 3.77 diff and cylinder head ? Edit - re-reading the advert maybe just the cylinder head is spare?) Malcolm
  21. The B&B we stayed at a couple of years ago told us that they were fed up with the noise complainers, as the hillclimb is too good a source of income for the local economy to loose, especially when the British Hillclimb events are on. They wished more locals would take advantage of free entry for them too. Mind you, Mark, they were pretty tolerant people, putting up with me arriving back at the B&B at midnight
  22. Friday night campers - hold on to your hats and 2 tent pegs per stay! ( or book into the Anglesey Arms)http://www.lotus7.club/sites/all/libraries/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/tongue_smile.png
