  1. Welcome back 🙂 You can do both the Curborough events as a CL7C member without signing up to the championship. When the children get older you can pay for their entry fees too for a dual drive!! Been there, done that one 😂😂 Malcolm
  2. Nylon bolt with a mild steel nut and penny washer works fine for the grounding in my experience.
  3. Fit camping foam bed roll, cut to size, to the underside. WRT wing fixing, if you don’t go down the plastic set screw route and use mild steel, make sure the forward bottom 2 have plenty of copperslip, as the rivnuts cannot be approached from the inside (without removing the inner panel) in a few years time when corrosion has set in.
  4. Sorry chaps, but the recycling centre visit is booked for this weekend. Last opportunity now for a display item in your design office!
  5. I can vouch for this car in it’s original spec as advertised here - Mike gave me the opportunity to drive it in anger at Loton Park hillclimb a while back and it is a very well sorted car👍 Good luck with the sale.
  6. Price £1995 ono I’ll buy it, thanks Mike😀
  7. Surely one of you want it as a show item for your office?
  8. Is tech drawing and design initially taught using traditional methods before being let loose with CAD? At least when the power to the PC fails work can continue.
  9. Good condition, free to a good home, collection only or could possibly meet by arrangement. Edit: located in NE Wales
  10. Try your friendly local garage owner. I’ve never had any difficulty.
  11. Rear hubs…appropriately ranged torque wrench?
  12. Paul - Just a further thought - If you are running without a giggle valve or restrictor in the CH to header there maybe reverse flow back into the CH prior to stat opening. This may explain the rapid rise to100 and fall when stat opens?
  13. Paul, I run the QED with the bypass outlet plumbed via a T piece into the lower header tank outlet to submarine pipe so bypassing the header tank. I fitted the CH to header tank hose with a 2mm restrictor fitted to replace the jiggle valve (on the standard manifold) when I fitted TBs. Malcolm
  14. I have read elsewhere that the conversion of theTriumph trunnion/upright (as found in Spitfire, GT6, Lotus Elan) to spherical bearing upsets the geometry (increases the effective length of the lower wishbone) resulting in increased bump steer. Not sure about the Caterham, though. Malcolm
  15. Loton Park entries are now open and Prescott opens on Monday 12th Feb at 1000hrs. For the latter you’ll need to check/edit your personal/car detail, upload your licence and register for the championship under Registrations in the drop down.
  16. ABWT 10-EU PTFE Lined Stainless Steel Spherical plain bearing 5/8 x 1-3/16 x 3/4 x 9/16 inch from www.simplybearings.co.uk @£32.30 +VAT. (Or Caterham £44.93 + VAT)
  17. CC have modified this arrangement (wide track only) under the spherical bearing. The special turned down nyloc is deleted, replaced by a top hat spacer (3ACZ0019C) and plain 1/2” UNF half nyloc (NFH1/2). I understand this is to move the nyloc downwards to reduce the risk for the nyloc contacting the rim of the recess for the spherical bearing on full suspension droop. But note, earlier uprights do not have sufficient thread to accommodate this set up, so starts to get expensive if one needs to replace the upright. Malcolm Edit - Apologies - I see this was covered in an earlier post!
  18. Just as a further remark, in addition to the selector seal, I have also had an oil leak from the first motion shaft / housing oil seal in the front housing on my 5 speed, I think the 6 speed arrangement is identical The seal and housing to gearbox cork gasket (5 and 4 in diagram in RJ’s post above) are available from BGH Geartech or Road and Race. When re-fitting the housing with the new seal , lubricate the seal lip with oil and gently rotate the housing/seal 1/4 turn into position, so the seal lip locates correctly on the shaft and not turned over. The cork housing seal should not have sealant as this will cause the gasket to extrude on tightening the locating set screws. Malcolm
  19. Yes. Remove the release bearing assembly and clutch arm. Put a jack under the gearbox for support (which should already be there at engine removal stage). Undo the 4 bolts and the belltank can be removed from the gearbox, usually needs a bit of help with a rubber mallet. Your oil leak will be from the gearbox selector rail oil seal. On reassembly, use silicone sealant around this area. No gasket with 6 speed, but there is with 5 speed. Malcolm
  20. I’d consider changing to a right angle drive, although the cost might be a bit of a shocker!! https://www.burtonpower.com/90-degree-speedo-drive-adaptor-gbt9560.html
  21. Ford diff breather - these are very brittle and snap easily, so care on refitting the diff. They are generally unavailable, although found one on eBay. R+R can supply a re-manufactured replacement. As my car is only for track use, I attached a vertical pipe to a catch tank in the boot.
