  1. Thanks for that Pendennis Before I took the regulator apart, it was always running low. I took it apart, cleaned it up and reassembled, then got exactly 43psi which is what I sey it to many years ago. - but yest, that on it's own makes it likelt to be the culprit. It's just that the symptoms mirror my first fuel pump failure - except the pump doesn't sound sick like the last one did.
  2. As mentioned elsewhere, is it worth making it visible but not searchable or post-able? That way, non members can get an idea how useful it is, non-member contributers can contribute on new queries, but only members can search the vast database of knowledge - I just searched for what spark plugs to use in my Vx and found my own post from years ago which answered it.
  3. Thanks Roger. Got your mail. daveK suggested swapping fuel filter then reg then pump. I'll do that. The good news is that after cleaning up the plugs, it now revs cleanly. It's been up and down the lane and feels good. The Stack does flag up fuel pressure drops on poking the throttle so I'll try and sort that. Has your engine gone back in?
  4. Any reason why I shouldn't get this : http://www.jjcraceandrally.com/autograss/aps-range/automotive-plumbing-solutions-gss342-walbro-255-type-uprated-fuel-pump or any other GSS342 pump?
  5. Thanks for all the hard work on the forum Just wondering if Tech Talk should be visible to non members? I know it's got a load of useful info that you might not want non members to benefit from - but I have often had useful advice from non members who could read it. Maybe making it visible but not searchable would be a compromise? Long live BC...... :-)
  6. My car seems to be struggling to maintain fuel pressure. At idle and engine off, I get a steady 3bar (43psi) If I prod the throttle, I get dips in fuel presure down to 35psi I'm going to change the filter first, and maybe the regulator but from experience, the last time I had this problem, it was the fuel pump. Caterham parts are out of stock and seem to only list the pump with the whole assembly with the bits that attacj=h it to the tank. They want £300 for this. http://caterhamparts.co.uk/product.php?id_product=98 Would this do the job? - At <£100, and without all the extra bits I don't need, it looks much more temptimg https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p/fuel-pump-caterham-injection-motorsport-ac-6443327-itp144?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=ShoppingUK&utm_campaign=ShoppingUK&vat=on&currency=GBP&gclid=CjwKEAjw-8ihBRD2t9qT3NaW7igSJAD3_sNV2pzl33x_rUk6mRUc4QldIR0OXf_Ni1tQLS-OmySppBoC21nw_wcB From memory, when I last changed the fuel pump, it was listed as a "high pressure injection pump" rather than a standard in tank pump. Is there anywhere else that I can source a suitable pump from? The engines a Swindon JPE Vauxhall engine. Thanks
  7. Apologies Richard, David's decided to take it but thanks for the interest. Regards, Alex
  8. Hello ECR! Yes still have some part worn tyres as well. "dibs" order : David Joyce Chris Hawkes Rynicolson's taker I will get some pics taken asap - apologies. Was dark by the time I got home last night.
  9. I'm selling my trailer -Brian James Twin axle with brakes - think it's 14 ft bed with ramps for loading - it's an old trailer but was lovingly maintained by it's previous owner (a certain ex-club chairman ) and has a tyre rack and the central boarding. Tyres are in good nick and it worked well when last used which was over a year ago. Will measure it when I get home - and try to get some pics up soon £450 Collection from near Curborough. Selling because it's simply not getting used. Edited by - Alex Wong on 22 Apr 2013 12:12:41 Edited by - Alex Wong on 24 Apr 2013 07:57:51
  10. On a Vx with all that (and my) weight, I kept getting soft pedal on track days no matter how I bled the system and what pads i used. AP calipers and master cylinder fixed it.
  11. I'm considering a set of Go Jaks. It would make moving my 7 and mx-5 in and out of my garage so much easier. It normally needs a 9 point turn to get the inner car out. The original Go Jaks seem to be a mechanical device but there are half price hydraulic options. Is the original mechanical Go Jak worth the extra? Thanks.
  12. Blimey, 2 years off BC and I'm still averaging 2 posts a day. Self imposed detox was definitely needed! 😬
  13. Thank you for letting me back in Barry!
