  2. Let's start with the easy bits. Are there any settings switches on the back of the rev counter, and if so how are they set?Check the instrument earthing point.Check the engine and ECU earths.Wiggle the ECU wires while it's running and see if that affects the rev counter display.Jonathan
  3. Engine starting easily and running smoothly? And the rev counter is steady... not bouncing or flicking? All other electrics working OK? Do you have a multimeter and the appropriate wiring diagram? Jonathan
  4. Thanks for all those measurements. Very interesting. Please keep them coming. We'll have something to compare with when problems occur. And might even be able to spot some risk factors... Jonathan
  5. "I have always wondered why the Banner only lasts about 3-4 years when people have told me their experience." It seems to be very variable. Of course that variability could be related to different charging patterns.. Jonathan

  7. Welcome. Have you got all of the documentation: Assembly Guide, amendments, wiring diagram and Handbook? Please let me know if you'd like any of those. Jonathan

  14. Thanks, Guy. I hope that there's an acceptable solution. Jonathan
  15. Do Powervamp still sell their own cage? That was quite neat, and was sometimes bundled with the battery at a discount. It was posted upthread that the PC535 fits the Caterham factory bracket. Jonathan PS: Mine is retained by a bodged and rivetted factory bracket.
  16. Thanks, Simon. Varley Li5 Mass: 1.1 kg (Demon Tweeks have the wrong value) Quoted cranking current: 335A Price: £186 inc VAT before Club discount Jonathan
  17. Many (? all) manufacturers will make them pull-up or pull-down and put the buckle which side you want it even if they don't advertise that. Have you asked them directly? Would you be happy to replace your set, or would you rather have them fettled? NB Club discounts. Jonathan
  18. This hasn't come up as a problem with retrofits. I expect that it's because the integrated battery management system (see above) looks after the battery. But it is interesting that a different mode is needed for a smart conditioning charger when it isn't for an alternator... Jonathan

  20. Welcome. Would you like any documentation: Assembly Guides, Handbooks, wiring diagrams? Jonathan
  21. It's a lot easier to extract oil if it's warm. Jonathan
