  1. Let me know if you need help with the photo. Jonathan
  2. I'd start by talking to Simon Rogers at Meteor Motorsports. Jonathan
  3. It's probably this post in Headlamp Alignment?. Jonathan PS: I recently referred to it in Headlamp Alignment, a different thread. There are more hints in Headlamp Adjustment. Always happy to discuss searching and knowledge management on the site.
  4. Please could you add a photo. Thanks Jonathan
  5. I'd start by discussing it with whoever made it. Jonathan PS: If it looks as if the leak might have been caused by stress from the mounting that needs to be sorted as well.

    Ride height

That's 70 mm. Lots of Members have reported problems at that height I wasn't suggesting that most are set at 75mm, only that it crops up as a recommended minimum. Jonathan
  7. N: Brown NB: Brown/Black NY: Brown/Yellow Jonathan
  8. Have you excluded the possibility of repair? Jonathan
  9. "Are most of the 94 era alternators Lucas." I don't know but here's the factory wiring diagram from 1996: Wire colours as in the linked file above. Jonathan
  10. Yes. Please send me a Private Message with your email address. Jonathan
  11. There's a limited range of terminal patterns. Please can you add some photos or sketches and a description of the wire colours and sizes, which are pretty standard. And any identification letters next to the terminals. And a model number if you can find one. Are you describing the end of the alternator itself, or an external cap that is attached to the wires and clips onto the alternator? Local specialists are often excellent and cheap at repairing alternators and starters. I have the factory wiring diagrams: please send me a Private Message with your email address if you'd like them. Jonathan British wiring colours.
  12. Welcome back, Andrew. I have the Assembly Guide, including wiring diagram, factory amendments, and Handbook for the 160. If you send me a Private Message with your email address I'll send those and anything that I can find for the 170. Jonathan

    Ride height

Could you add some details of your current shock absorbers, or some photos? Jonathan

    Ride height

That's 83 mm. The canonical Coke can is 60 mm. The most common minimum recommended in the archives is 75 mm. Previous discussions. Where on the Seven is it scraping? Jonathan
  15. I see what you mean! That Dropbox link asked me to log-in, but then showed the video anyway when I didn't. Jonathan
  16. I wouldn't expect a problem. Make sure that you understand the emissions regulations that apply to your Seven, and consider discussing them with the tester in advance. Adjust the handbrake, mine's always marginal. Get the brakes and catalyst warmed up on the way. And know how to adjust the headlamps and take a suitable tool in case that's needed. I have the propshaft UJs greased while it's up there. (You might not have any.) But last year for the first time I didn't go up on the ramp... they now have a remote wiggling gadget. : - ( Jonathan
  17. "It could be that a wire ended up carrying far more current than it was meant to and overheated, melting the insulation." And with it happening on trying to start the engine in addition to the wiring that includes the starter switch, the relay, the solenoid and the starter motor. Jonathan
  18. Sorry to see that. I don't know. Do you have all of the wiring diagrams that you need? I have a large collection including some that never appeared in Assembly Guides. Jonathan
  19. IIRC there's a fair bit in the archives. I'll run a search later. Are you interested in a solution based on mobile 'phones? Jonathan
  20. In Google Earth Pro there's a slider that shows the year. If you click that there's a dialog box that sets a time window. I played with that to make the Sevens appear and disappear. I suspect that there's a slicker method... Jonathan
  21. The date stamp seems to be 18/7/2021, which was Sunday. But it's the first time that I've ever played with that so I'm not certain. Jonathan
  22. Over here! Let's do one together. Jonathan
  23. Previous discussion: CSR Offsets ?. From Steve Marsh: Caterham CSR Superlight Set-Up Specifications. Jonathan
  24. "boiling the brake fluid was unexpected. I washed it off the paint, but I think there's some under the chassis plate. either the brake fluid that came in the car is not up to the job or the brake pads are crap (they worked fine all day) or there's a high-pressure leak. I guess I'll chuck RBF660 in." Check the fit of the cap on the master cylinder's reservoir: there's a known problem. And do you know what fluid is in there (and elsewhere!) at the moment? Jonathan
  25. "I'm struggling to heal-and-toe in the car as I obvs can't twist my foot and I suspect the brake pedal is too far from the accelerator, so I'm going to look at moving it closer to do the side-foot senna-style (without the loafers). every corner was a gamble whether I'd hit the brake with my big toe and attempt the throttle and a couple of times I couldn't reach the throttle, so was left without any engine braking which was pretty terrifying." There's a lot of adjustment possible including alternative pivot points for the pedals, height adjustment with the cables, bending the throttle pedal with a screwdriver and determination, and adding blocks. And you might choose to add pedal stops while you're down there. Lots on all of these in the archives, and please let me know if would like an Assembly Guide. Jonathan
