  1. Caterham Parts have TR6AP-13 for "SPARK PLUG DURATEC STANDARD MODELS". (But different for a 485.) John Vine in 2014 wrote: "My 2008 R400D came with Ford's 5M5G-12405-AA TR6AP-13. These are made, AFAIK, by NGK. Gap is 1.3mm. I think some owners run the (slightly harder) NGK BR7EFS instead." Further discussion in 2020. Jonathan
  2. Welcome. I'm really impressed with the searching and researching. : - ) Jonathan
  3. "I'm surprised nothing was available before." There's a few plastic pipes out there. Mine's a block of mahogany. Jonathan
  4. Is that water only? Thanks Jonathan
  5. I'd use a detergent rather than a solvent. And I wouldn't use GT85 because of the unnecessary added plastic particles. Jonathan
  6. "I thought I could do the cleaning myself. Doing it in my driveway is not very encouraging from a pollution perspective because all the grease would go first in my driveway then in the street. Can anyone suggest a place where it could be done by oneself but with the minimal pollution to the local environment?" If you're not going to collect and treat the effluent then I'd guess that the least worst solution would be something like: Wipe away as much oil and grease as possible and dispose appropriately at local centre.Low salt biodegradable detergent and as little as possible. (Many people use much more than is needed for many purposes.)On your own grass to allow some degradation before it gets into the public system.Jonathan
  7. Yes. I once did some tabulating of cost/ avoided mass... But perhaps the better comparison would be with an AGM battery... I don't think that those Banners are suitable for Sevens in any way. Jonathan
  8. As you can see in the animation above a Watt linkage gives a near vertical trajectory for the red dot. In the Seven configuration it reduces the fore and aft movement of the rear wheel compared to a radius arm. From what I can tell it was developed to reduce rear wheel steering on the track. Opinions differ on its efficacy and desirability on circuits, hillclimbs and the road. Unfortunately there's a large number of threads on the subject. I recommend starting with this one from 2011. Jonathan
  9. Have you got the Assembly Guide that has the picture and instructions? If not and you'd like it send me a Private Mail. Watt's linkage on Wikipedia. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/93/Watts_linkage.gif Jonathan
  10. JWM PS-12: 1.5 kg Banner 53034: 8 kg Jonathan
  11. There's an excellent guide from Alcester Racing Sevens, but the site seems to be down at the moment. There are several tools offered in the Equipment Register. Where are you? Some people say that they can wind back with long-nosed pliers. Check the advice about winding back and setting the handbrake in the archives. Jonathan
  12. That 'phone has an accelerometer... ; - ) Jonathan
  13. "Installs with ultra-strong, ultra-durable, weatherproof 3M VHB adhesive" Jonathan
  14. In the garage you can hang one or more tennis balls from the ceiling and use those to align both left-right and fore and aft. With new cars I put one up to just touch the middle of the rear window. Mats with ramps also work well for fore and aft. Jonathan
  15. "Some people will do anything to avoid reversing!!!" "Hang on, lads; I've got a great idea." Jonathan
  16. Could you put a marker above the wall... possibly a plant? Beyond that... some sort of sight alignment marks somewhere else so that you know you're in the right place even though you can't see the obstacles? With or without automation! Jonathan
  17. Type 14: /forum/techtalk/brake-calipers /forum/techtalk/std-front-brake-calipers /forum/techtalk/type-14-girling-front-brake-calipers Jonathan
  18. Well done. I recently had to drill out some *solid steel with a handheld electric drill and was impressed with Bosch "cobalt" bits. Jonathan * On a tandem trailer trike!
  19. After soaking my first choice might be cutting a transverse slot and using a straight-tipped screwdriver. But drilling, extractors (as above) and welding a lever/nut are all possible. Jonathan
  20. What can you feel or see on the other end? Soak it in penetrating fluid (not ordinary WD-40) while the suggestions are arriving. Jonathan
  21. I'd start by asking Redline. Discussion of the brake boot, with part number. Jonathan PS: Is it you or the Seven that went halfway round the world? : - )
  22. I'd prefer to take the load on brackets attached to the chassis rather than onto the floor. Previous discussion. Jonathan
  23. "I am sure you know this but the one next to where your left knee sits, adjacent to gear lever is access to work on the gearbox drive for your speedo." It's also possible to cut a hole to make it easy to access the gearbox filler plug if you want. Jonathan
