  1. If you email the image I'll have a go. Jonathan
  2. This thread will probably end up referring to the legislation, but in the meantime here's the relevant section from the MoT Inspection Manual. It might help in that decision: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/mot-inspection-manual-for-private-passenger-and-light-commercial-vehicles/4-lamps-reflectors-and-electrical-equipment#section-4-2-1 Jonathan
  3. From above: Mounting on the lower dash tube had always been my preference until this most recent round of discussion. Jonathan
  4. "You can get some strange smells if something has landed on the exhaust." ... "Ryan, I'd still suggest investigating further a dragging brake, if there's nothing obviously wrong with the drive of the car it's much more likely brakes than clutch." ... In the absence of any clutch symptoms I'd also be looking for other causes. Can you get it up on stands for a look and a play? Jonathan
  5. I suggest starting with the Speedometers Guide and this thread. How are you fixing the ring, and how old is the car? Jonathan
  6. : - ) The image test worked fine. But I can't now delete the contents and get this error message when I try. Jonathan
  7. It's suggested to slacken the engine mounts and the gearbox mount to allow some lateral movement to increase access. Jonathan
  8. I've got one of those... donated by a fellow Member! Very useful machine. Safety reminder: carbon fibre particles are nasty and dangerous and electrically conductive. Please take appropriate precautions. Jonathan
  9. Previous discussions. Are you going to it with the gearbox in or out of the car? Jonathan
  10. "*Apologies for the strange angle of the photo - not sure why the forum has rotated the image?" The explanation and the workaround from the Forum User Guide. Jonathan
  11. I've seen references to "Decibel Slayer", a homemade version, and something that I can't remember like "coffee pot". I suggest starting with these threads. Jonathan
  12. I'd start with Redline. Jonathan
  13. I can't find the spec in the archives or from the usual suppliers. I can find it for many replacement options. But I'm not sure why you're asking... Jonathan
  14. Very interesting. At the risk of falling into the trap of making educational suggestions on removing the contents of shelled zygote containers by applying negative pressure: How many tank refills have you done since you've been back? Has the frequency of the problem changed with this? What's the battery voltage while cranking? And do you have a functioning alternator warning light? How many cables are connected at each battery terminal? Does it have a master switch? Jonathan
  15. The effect of engine speed that samsul and revilla describe doesn't sound to me like what happens when air is left in the system on a K series. Jonathan
  16. What might help: Asking Radtec about the reasons for their recommendation of coolant. That could also help to establish whether there is any brass or copper in their radiators. Following up that comment from Premier Power. Jonathan
  17. Thanks, both. What I think that we know: 1 There are different types of coolants that fall into a few big families. The colour is sometimes consistent within families but not always, especially with less common products. 2 There will be some variation between products within families, especially in minor constituents such as inhibitors. 3 One supplier of radiators suggests that some leaks have been caused by use of "red" coolant and recommends "blue" coolant. But we have never seen anything resembling a controlled comparison of this. The evidence seems to have come from seeing what type of coolant has been used in radiators that have leaked. 4 Using "blue" coolant in many current Seven engines would be against the recommendation of the engine supplier to use "red" coolant. 5 "Aluminium" radiators might contain some copper or brass components. All corrections and suggestions welcome. Jonathan
  18. "From my research so far... " It would be very very helpful if you could assemble everything that you find in one place. We need an up to date Guide for each wheel diameter... Jonathan
