  1. Any more experiences to share? What has anyone recently fitted... and why? Thanks Jonathan
  2. PS: What are you going to put in the Seven to replace it? "Whats the best battery these days" "Li ion batteries" Jonathan
  3. Yes, you might be able to. 1 Top it up. 2 If it wasn't detected by the smart conditioning charger then try brute force with an old-fashioned dumb trickle charger or jumping from a vehicle with the engine running ≥ 3,000 rpm. 3 After a bit of that try it with the smart conditioning charger again. 4 This might force it back into life. But I would never rely on it anywhere that it mattered if it didn't start the engine. But as a low-current bench or workshop power source that wouldn't be the case. Jonathan
  4. "I assume the speedo will require recalibration if the rolling radius changes." Yes, and the ease of doing that depends on the type of speedometer. Jonathan
  5. On width: how much power will that be? There's a crossover point that's often suggested. Thanks Jonathan
  6. Well done. Thanks for adding the solution. Jonathan PS: I recommend using penetrating fluid (such as PlusGas) rather than ordinary WD-40.
  7. I can't remember ever seeing anything that clear. There's a diagram in the current pictorial Assembly Guide. There's rather more in the last text-heavy version from 2016. Please let me know if you'd like a copy. John Vine identified that the location of the Schnorr washers was incorrect in some guides. I don't know if that is now corrected. Jonathan
  8. That would be my first choice for the starter. Please could you take some photos and look for part number etc while it's out. But do you know any more about the condition of the battery and the charging circuit? Thanks Jonathan
  9. I'm now not sure what's happening. Let's assume that your resistance readings from the sender show which way it's supposed to work in your Seven. I'm sorry if I've caused confusion. How about trying that test jump lead and seeing how the gauge responds? Jonathan
  10. I that that it's Green/ Black from sender to gauge. Abbreviated to GB. And I wonder if the fault is that it is contacting earth somewhere other than through the sender. If that's the case then you need to disconnect it from the gauge in order to test anything else. The first thing that I would do is disconnect that wire from the sender at the tank end. What happens to the gauge reading? Jonathan
  11. Thanks. Your post crossed with some changes that I made to #3. Jonathan
  12. It does sound like a wiring problem, especially with that history of trauma. Have you exposed the connections at the tank end? Are all of the other instruments working correctly? As the gauge is reading high it's getting an earth from somewhere. You'll probably have to access the connections on the back of the gauge at some point. Jonathan
  13. I'll send you the wiring diagram if you give me your email address in a Private Message. For a 1996 K that's a point to point diagram which makes it easy to check everything with a test jump wire as you've tried. Jonathan
  14. The answer is probably scattered across these threads: /forum/techtalk/sump-plug-duratec /forum/techtalk/duratec-sump-nut-washer-where /forum/techtalk/sump-nut Jonathan
  15. Would you rather do it that way than have a single gauge that shows oil temperature and water temperature? And do you want them all showing at once or would you be happy with a switch to show oil temperature when needed? And if it's a new gauge how important is it that it resembles the others? Jonathan PS: If you'd like the factory wiring diagram for your Seven please send me a Private Message with your email address.
  16. This one? /forum/sale/pedal-extension-plugs-assist-heel-and-toeing Jonathan
  17. As a result of some hard work by a couple of Members the Lowflying archive is available and searchable online! : - ) Jonathan
  18. Is there a write-up of anyone doing anything similar in Lowflying? Jonathan
  19. "Why does this forum do stupid things with pictures????" Why it happens. How to avoid it. Jonathan PS: AIUI there's nothing Apple can do about this, as explained in Why it happens. I expect it to stop being a problem in a future update of this site.
