  1. John: Are your bobbins made with a separate stud at each end? Thanks Jonathan
  2. Thanks for adding that experience. I don't think that anyone has previously suggested thermal expansion of an otherwise well-fitting radiator as the cause of failure. That's a very interesting idea. Did you ever check the fit in the brackets and the mechanical load from the hoses? Jonathan
  3. Discussed here, with the history. Jonathan
  4. /comment/2405718#comment-2405718 Jonathan
  5. "As I need to top up the antifreeze, I intend to install a bleeding T Piece first. I know it needs to go at the highest point in the circuit, but where have folks normally installed the T Piece as being the highest point?" I think that the long run to the heater valve is most common. Jonathan
  6. Sorry, Giles. There's been a late season rush of electrical problems! Now a smidgeon of space in my inbox, but you should already have a pile of attachments by email... Jonathan
  7. The shortest summary so far, with a hierarchy of plans! See you over there? Jonathan
  8. Yes, up to the line. But with appropriate precautions to avoid leaving air in the system... would you like a summary? I use "Comma XSM5L 5L Xstream G30 Antifreeze and Coolant Ready Mixed ". But I'd be happy to use the same concentrate. Jonathan
  9. As above. Plus.. are there any previous data? Please could you add a photo of the exhaust system. Jonathan
  10. "... yes that's the the thread, I spent hours searching but couldn't find it" Only just spotted that. Here's the search that I would have used: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=site:caterhamlotus7.club+upright+caster+trunnion Jonathan
  11. I have the Caterham wiring diagrams and IIRC some Sterling notes. Please send me a Private Message with your email address. Jonathan
  12. On fluids: do you know what's in there? And which categories are compatible and which incompatible? Once that's established I'd be happy to use anything from a well-known producer. (No comment on brake pads.) Jonathan
  13. Diff stuff from Alcester Racing Sevens: access, plug removal, filling. (Now only on the Wayback Machine so links to images might not work.) Jonathan
  14. Diff filler plug: Try an L shaped key or a piece of sawn-off key in a wrench. You can improve access by jacking the suspension and removing the boot floor. I'll add some links when I'm not on a bus. Jonathan
  15. Thanks for adding the answer. Jonathan
  16. Yes, it's come up a few times. But I don't think that anyone has previously questioned the source... From the archives: /forum/spark-plug-condition /forum/techtalk/sigma-warning /forum/techtalk/620s-engine-cutting-out-very-heavy-rain /forum/techtalk/plugs-and-duratech-warning ... includes Sigmas and your experience in 2017. Jonathan
  17. This is the photo that I thought that I'd posted. From this thread, but NB it's a K. Thanks again, Ian. Jonathan
  18. Did I mean multiply x 2? Jonathan
  19. "I worked which replacement switch to use - its in an old thread somewhere. Purchased from Rimmer Bros": Part number: https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-LR039638P Previous discussion and fettling instructions: /forum/techtalk/ignition-switch-failure Jonathan
  20. Caterham Parts say that the column lock is the same for "all cars"; https://caterhamparts.co.uk/switches/6567-steering-column-lock-all-cars.html And on Ks it's a Land Rover/ BL part... and Rimmer Bros stock them... and Ian WrightPayne knows the number... Jonathan
  21. What colour are the connected wires? And can you add a photo? Thanks Jonathan
  22. Thanks Jonathan (No problems with fumes in my 1800 K.)
