  1. I haven't seen nearly as much about that as on K series engines. But there are discussions of tensioners and water pumps... and how easy it is to DIY. Full search of the archives: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=site:CATERHAMLOTUS7.CLUB+sigma+timing+belt+change Jonathan PS: You're not alone with having problems searching. That URL above uses the best method that I know. It's discussed here: /forum/chitchat/search-facility-1
  2. From the Assembly Guide: "The two parts of the steering column are clamped together using the locking clamp, make sure the cut out faces the column, refer to Fig 29. Insert the grub screw loosely into the clamp. Secure the two halves of the clamp using two bolts , plain washers and spring washers. Torque to 14 Nm. Tighten the grub screw with an Allen key to eliminate any free play in the steering. Lock the grub screw into place using locknut." Jonathan
  3. Robust plastic. Jonathan PS: After-sales service!
  4. Start here (from James) and read on. Jonathan
  5. If you use an unsealed battery such as the Banner it's worth considering a vent pipe so that any acid goes where it will cause the least damage. Discussion from 2021. Jonathan
  6. The warmer the easier. Jonathan
  7. Could be... I couldn't find a neat ratio from the displayed example. I might at higher engine speed... Jonathan
  8. I wouldn't do that yet. Could you do some more comparisons at different engine speeds? Jonathan PS: It's often possible to repair instruments.
  9. I don't think that I've ever seen that asked before! There shouldn't be a problem with the electrics, but you'll need to run cables to the other side. And I don't think that there'll be a problem with the glass in the frame. If you need to replace rather than reuse the gasket NB there have been problems with getting the right thickness. But... why do you want to do this, and how about having the chip filled with the screen in place? Jonathan
  10. That's interesting. Where are you taking the signal to the Timorn instrument? What setting do you have the on the Timorn instrument? That might be "Number of cylinders". Does your Seven have four cylinders and does it have a wasted spark ignition system? And which ECU? And does that ratio between the two instruments hold across the rev range? Jonathan
  11. Could you add some photos? Jonathan
  12. Ian's post links to the correct sequence for adjusting and tightening the assembly. Jonathan
  13. "Digging up this older thread, has there been anything new in 14" choice." How are you getting on with searching the archives? Some Members find it difficult. One of the advantage of my currently preferred method is that you can include date restriction. Jonathan
  14. As upthread there are reports of electrical problems elsewhere caused by faults with electronic speedometers. But we need to know what sort of speedometer you have, as requested by John Vine. Jonathan
  15. If you'd like the wiring diagrams for your Seven or the Workshop Notice for the revised speedometer wiring please send me a Private Message with your email address. Jonathan
  16. John: Have you got the version of the Assembly Guide that has two sections on wiring the starter motor... with and without a battery master switch? Jonathan PS: Reminds me of Robert Mitchum's styles of acting...
  17. There are ways of fitting fasteners that make it easier to tighten them with the restricted access. Lots and lots of discussion about gearbox mounts. Jonathan
  18. I have the 1998 Assembly Guide which covers Ford, Vauxhall and Rover engines. Please send me a Private Message with your email address if you'd like a copy. Jonathan
  19. Thanks for adding the answer. Jonathan
  20. Do you have a battery master switch... the wiring notes in the Assembly Guide seem to depend on that. Jonathan
  21. The traditional functions for wires of those colours would be: Brown: Main battery feed White/Red: Starter switch to starter solenoid Jonathan
  22. Is that this from the pictorial-style Assembly Guide? The previous text-rich versions have a much more helpful schematic wiring diagram. Please let me know if you'd like a copy. Jonathan
