  1. Wikipedia "live axle" It's used in discussions about 7s to demarcate them from de Dion rear suspension. Jonathan PS: I find the Wikipedia article a bit misleading as it says that "live axle" is a synonym for "solid axle". I thought "solid axle" was used for axles for driven wheels where there isn't a diff, eg some drag racers." Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 12 Mar 2012 10:27:41
  2. Could be a duff battery Could be a bad connection that can't take high current: clean and refit all relevant connections, including earths. Could be a charging problem Stick a voltmeter on the battery: what's the voltage at rest and when you try and start? Is the ignition light on at rest (sounds as if it is) and did it go out while you were driving? Jonathan
  3. There are lots of recommended suppliers of silicone hoses in the archives. Any of those knows how to make that one. Jonathan
  4. How about using DropBox or something similar to create a single queue to serve both networks? Might need a bit of scripting. But that would let you use any printer... Jonathan
  5. Roger, I thought your rôle in BC was to answer this sort of question, not ask them. :-) There's a comment from Epson here saying at least one of their printers can do this. It's the sort of issue I'd want to be very sure of on the exact model before committing. Haven't used a colour laser printer for years. At home I currently have an HP monochrome laser printer and an Epson all-in-one inkjet/ scanner. Do you only need printing, and do you need "photo quality"? Jonathan
  6. If you're using WDS you have to tell each base station about the other, and identify one as master and the other as remote. You have to choose an encryption system that is compatible with WDS on both base stations. At the IP level you need to make a bridged connection so that the slave (presumably the Airport Express) doesn't act as a DHCP server or an NAT server. I know how to do these on Airport kit, but not on the D-Link router. You may find it easier to do all the configuration using wired connections before you ask them to communicate wirelessly. Jonathan
  7. What mode of connection are you trying to achieve between the two base stations... wired? WDS? Jonathan
  8. Are you sure that shouldn't be visual inspection only... or perhaps it was. Jonathan
  9. I used a hole punch where you drill a small pilot hole then thread one bit either side and tighten with a wrench by hand: don't know the correct term. Worked perfectly. Jonathan
  10. Have you checked that the fan isn't on when it shouldn't be? Is the effect related to air temperature? See this thread Jonathan
  11. Quoting Q Catcher: OK, I'm going to have to confess I cannot figure out how to work blatmail. I've often wondered. What happens when you click on the envelope icon? Jonathan
  12. Apart from the environmental issues can I just emphasise the toxicity of ethylene glycol. It only takes a few ml to harm a child, or a few 10s of ml to kill one. So please check your storage of it, both used and unused. Jonathan
  13. I suggest you search for "Starter relay" in the archives and see if you have the problem that others have had... and have successfully fixed. Jonathan
  14. What Baz says. Every time I see that subject line I wonder what colour that is. Jonathan
  15. Does this thread help? Jonathan
  16. Classic Silicone Hoses: highly recommended. Jonathan Hose threads (!) on BC are interesting: there are several suppliers and everyone seems happy with their supplier
  17. Do you know about Apple Educational Discounts? Jonathan
  18. K series wiring diagram Jonathan
  19. Does this harness diagram help? Downloads page from Caterham Didn't the electrical diagrams used to be included in the assembly guides? They don't seem to be there now. If those don't do what you need please say what engine you've got and I'll try and find the diagram in my collection of downloads. Jonathan
  20. Suggested alternative in this thread Jonathan
  21. *arrowup* What else could we diagnose from the video? Is this the future of car maintenance? It's now getting like telemedicine! Jonathan
  22. Thanks for the blanking advice, Johnty Jonathan
  23. I thought about using the fan temperature sensor as an independent check, but there's another recent thread (about the fan and cold weather) describing how the differing temperature at different parts of the cooling system in a K series can be misleading. But if the fan isn't on it in this case it must mean something. (This is similar to some bits of medical diagnosis.) Jonathan
