  1. Thanks. So the tube of Sikaflex stayed intact and held it on loosely after the adhesion failure? Jonathan
  2. Thanks. If it's Sikaflex wrapped all around the stay which bit failed? Did the tube of Sikaflex rupture? Jonathan
  3. Quoting Master Thatcher: Why oh why are these just stuck on?? Nearside one came loose today off front spa, and it just had to flap till I got home!! Slightly embarrassing driving at 25mph What's the remedy please stick or bolt?. Could you tell us a bit more? Who stuck these on, and with what? Was the goo wrapped around the stay? Jonathan
  4. There's quite a lot of discussion on this in the archives, and some suggestions about what the paint code is: Topic Last Updated Forum Dodge Viper Blue paint colour code 23 Jul 2012 09:28:00 TechTalk halfords viper blue gts paint code 30 Apr 2011 12:04:00 TechTalk Viiper blue paint code 6 Jan 2011 10:14:00 TechTalk Say Hi .... 16 Nov 2010 17:33:00 ChitChat Road running fatality 16 Apr 2010 17:32:00 ChitChat Just started snowing 29 Jan 2010 18:14:00 ChitChat Mini roundabouts 25 Feb 2009 23:44:00 ChitChat Viper Colour Code 14 Mar 2007 20:31:00 TechTalk Paint codes again 8 Jun 2006 22:27:00 TechTalk Dodge Viper Blue - colour code anyone? 7 Mar 2006 23:07:00 TechTalk Is this the Snot / rossybee's helmut 26 Oct 2005 15:25:00 ChitChat Book Recommendations? 3 Mar 2005 11:00:00 ChitChat Motorway Madness 19 Feb 2005 15:13:00 ChitChat Heard This and.... 5 Nov 2004 12:09:00 Test Area Chrysler Viper Blue - Paint Code 19 Mar 2003 17:08:00 TechTalk After School Meeting 4 Mar 2003 10:58:00 Test Area Thwacking strips (oo-er missus!) 31 Oct 2002 15:59:00 ChitChat Jonathan
  5. How about a little electronic module between the sender and the gauge that allows you to set the gauge reading when the tank is physically empty and full, and then applies those offsets? Jonathan
  6. Are you sure you want a new fuel gauge? How about a unique BC crowd-sourced adaptor circuit? I'd start with a Wheatstone bridge with the fixed resistors giving a ratio that matches the resistance ratio of your sender and gauge... Jonathan
  7. Phew, I'll cancel the call to CERN. :-) Jonathan
  8. -4V relative to what? Jonathan
  9. Momentary switch on the wiring between the control module and the wiper motor? Jonathan
  10. Where exactly were the two probes when you saw that 10V across the bulb holder? Jonathan

    Really?

Was this fettled out of a DB9 when it broke down in the Sahara? Jonathan
  12. This topic comes up quite often and then goes away again. There is often a lot of a praise for Darren's helpfulness. The question of delivery charges from Caterham never seems to resolve. The prices on the website look high, but IIRC there was some question about the website being too inflexible to display the correct value for the carrier they use. Please could people who have bought something recently tell us if they paid the price that was shown on the website. Thanks Jonathan
  13. Two cars: four wheels. Race over a set distance (lap, straight, whatever) to the next car, swap the wheels from the first car to the second car, race back. Repeat to taste. Jonathan
  14. Quoting Dave Jackson: I think this is due to the air temp sensor - shared with the MAP sensor on the airbox. I think the air temp is soaring on standstill and this confuses the ecu on startup. if Gregg only uses light throttle it clears after a 30 seconds. this could be due to the air then being refreshed and cooled . Don't know anything about these systems. How do you test ideas like that? Could you test it by measuring that input value and comparing it with what ought to be? Or could you rig a faked input value and see what happens when you vary it under the conditions that cause the problem? Jonathan Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 8 Jul 2012 16:16:56
  15. Was it 20A? IIRC it's been recommended to change that to 30A. It will be in the archives. Jonathan
  16. Indicator switch, or wires which should be connected to the switch? Jonathan
  17. Thanks, Mike. I've got confused about who has fitted what... please could you list which parts you used in getting to that point, and are they the standard light unit housings? Jonathan Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 1 Jul 2012 00:09:43
  18. Used to belong to Bob Danvers-Walker. Jonathan
  19. Thanks for all the advice. I sealed the floor where the 7 lives with Firlex 94 single pack epoxy gloss, and the rest of the garage with Firwood 299 concrete floor seal. Both bought by mail order from Firwood. Online order and delivery were efficient. Floor seal was excellent. Epoxy paint was good but I should have followed their instructions to thin the first coat. Surface is OK and the Vespa's kick stand doesn't seem to make any impression on it. Jonathan
  20. I didn't know Alan Duncan read BC... Jonathan
  21. Quoting Roger Ford: They're actually tougher than fibreglass but not indestructible. Don't see why you shouldn't use them on the road. Is ABS in this context acrylonitrile butadiene styrene? Is the unsuitability related to polymer degradation, as in seat belt buttons? Jonathan
  22. It would be of great service to the community if a task force could spend an evening swopping all the options around and comparing them. As 7s have a LH and a RH tail assembly simple photographs of pairs of options would record the comparisons adequately. On and off axis, please. I'll put up £10 to NtL for any local group who'll take this on. Anyone else join in? Jonathan
