  1. Quoting Blacken: It crossed my mind that it would give me better entry into the boot area and, of course, I would be adding lightness if I removed the hoodsticks altogether *thumbup*. Has anybody out there who has removed them got any opinions on the downside of removing them (other than the obvious one of not being able to use the full hood) 🤔 YesQuoting TobyCoulson: Quoting Stationary M25 Traveller: I ditched my hood sticks and got a low-profile boot cover from SoftBits. here is mine before and after.Jonathan Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 10 Aug 2012 10:43:31
  2. For driving on public roads and for track days isn't good instruction the upgrade that provides the best value for money? Competition might be different, but I wouldn't know. Jonathan
  3. Austin built an A40 with two doors on one side and one on the other... and didn't notice. Or so legend has it. Jonathan
  4. They come in batches of 25 and we're approaching 50. Stu: 5 (or even10) Ian B: 1 (or maybe 2) Please can you firm up how many you need. Thanks Jonathan
  5. Looked as if it had been parked neatly on a public road in the village. No obvious damage. I waited 24h then 'phoned the police. Jonathan
  6. Told the police. They told me they were arranging for it to be reunited with its distraught owner. I was before I discovered BC. Jonathan
  7. I found a stolen one in Garsington once. Did that belong to anyone on BC? Jonathan
  8. As above. If you're adding cushions I've found it best to use a large (tall) single piece of dense foam against the seat back, and it's worth trying another on the bit you sit on. Jonathan
  9. Previous discussion in this thread Jonathan
  10. Google suggests Permatex Gasket Remover. Jonathan
  11. Quoting Roadsport06: This is your spreadsheet here.Jonathan
  12. Myles: Did you think about moving the air filter forward into the nose with a bit of trunking rather than using panelling? Jonathan
  13. Is it any consolation that we are enjoying your saga? Jonathan Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 5 Aug 2012 19:09:04
  14. This thread seems to be aware of the risks already. In the next village to ours a man recently died after taking an angle grinder to an oil drum with the intention of making a barbecue. It is thought that residual fumes exploded. Jonathan
  15. That's at least 35 so far. Keep them coming. Jonathan
  16. Quoting colindavies56: M25 is it really that simple as to reverse 2 wires around, why would they sell 2 typesThey don't have control over it. Somewhere there is the antifan that is wired the other way. That's a bit strange, but what's even more amazing is that they are entangled. When you connect yours the other way round it simultaneously changes the wiring to the antifan. This surprises* the antibloke who owns the anti7 to which it's fitted. Next week: vehicle wiring and the Standard Smoke Model. Jonathan *Or unsurprises him, depending on whether he lives in Copenhagen, or in many other places all at the same time. 17. Is this only happening on cars with Stack displays? Can you measure the supply voltage as you switch the fan on? Does it change? Jonathan
  18. Do you think that's higher supply voltage, earthing problems or something else? Jonathan
  19. Quoting metal mickey: Petrol is the most dangerous substance you are going to use in your car...I know what you mean but testosterone runs it close... Jonathan Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 2 Aug 2012 23:52:47
  20. Quoting keybaud: Don't forget import duty and VAT plus customs handling charge.Thanks. Of course I have. Any advice on how to approach this? Jonathan
  21. What is this earthing problem of which you speak? How can switching the fan on cause variation in the gauge reading? How could it be diagnosed? Jonathan
  22. We're counting how many people would like to join a bulk buy of a storage canister. It could be used under the bonnet. This thing. I think it's the same thing as a ToolTube, but it has yellow signs on it. They are supposed to be removable with acetone. How many interested at £6.42/unit + local delivery? Quoting sforshaw: If you don't have an Apollo tank a "Tooltube" will fit vertically where the Apollo would normally be - it's perfect for tools (obviously!) but will also fit a 1 litre SIGG bottle of oil which is better than it rolling around in the boot!Quoting sforshaw: Tooltube SIGG bottle SIGG bottle in TooltubeQuoting Grim Reaper: ebay seller in US flogging a box of 25 here No postage details though.Quoting Jonathan Kay: Thanks. I've asked how much they would charge for delivery:Quote: For 25 pcs (one box), the cost of postage via USPS is US$152.05. That's $99 + $152.05 = $251.05 = $10.04/ unit = £6.42/ unit.So far: IanW : 2 OliW: Yep Stu: 5 (or even10) Ian B: 1 (or maybe 2) Have I missed anyone so far? If anyone could pick them up in the USA they'd be a lot cheaper... Jonathan PS: First time I've done this.
