  1. Discussion of the Ford 3 cylinder engine here Jonathan
  2. *arrowup* My spacers were supplied with new harnesses in April 2011. Jonathan
  3. Spacers: I found the ones supplied by Titon and my original ones from Caterham were just too tight to allow free swivelling. I'll see how many I have left. Jonathan
  4. As GJT. Titon offered to make them the way I wanted, weren't expensive and were very good to deal with. The spacers they supplied didn't have quite enough shoulder: see previous thread, and does anyone want to buy some of the ones I had made? Jonathan
  5. My K De Dion assembly Guide: Remove the gearbox oil filler plug (if not removed earlier) using the cut down 10 mm Allen key.July 2010 Assembly Guide:Remove the gearbox oil filler plug (if not removed earlier) using the cut down 3/8” Allen key. They're very close... de minimis non curat hex? Jonathan
  6. Thanks Does all current UK fuel that has RON >95 use ethanol to achieve that? Jonathan
  7. Please could you explain about lower octane fuel having higher calorific value? Is this a well-known fact, and what's the underlying chemistry? Thanks Jonathan
  8. *arrowup* *arrowup*I don't think that's a myth. FBHVC have notes on discussions with the Department for Transport Jonathan
  9. *arrowup* *arrowup*Thans for the explanation. I was wondering why you homed in on the main light switch. Is there a simple way to convert the flash switch circuit so that it's low current, and fused appropriately, presumably with an extra relay? When you say "original loom" has it been changed? Jonathan
  10. Could you do the experiment blinded as to what fuel is in? Get someone else to fill it and not tell you... Jonathan
  11. Harnesses and flasher unit, please Jonathan
  12. Quoting Looptheory: Is the higher RON fuel ok for the older cars?AFAIK there is never a problem with using too high an octane rating of any petrol in any engine (other than wasting money). There may be a problem with additives, but that was mostly about moving to unleaded fuel. But I may well be out of date. The only thing I've read recently was a description of how fuel is adjusted for particular conditions in F1: possibly on James Allen's site, but it was longer and more detailed than this. Do we have a BC expert on fuel? Jonathan
  13. Glad you've found the cause. Can you explain the effect of declutching, which you originally observed? Jonathan
  14. I think that this is the definitive guidance. There's quite a lot of discussion in the archives. Jonathan
  15. I need to replace the socket I use for charging the battery and mobile 'phone. Typical cigar lighter type, bulkhead fitting. Any model you'd recommend? Thanks Jonathan
  16. Glad it's fixed. Impressive service. That should attract a lot of business. Jonathan
  17. Is the problem with the Emerald that it wants more volts or more revs? Jonathan
  18. Voltage sounds OK for cranking, but are you sure that there isn't still a possibly resistive connection between where you are measuring the feed voltage and the internals of the starter? What's the connection there? If it's a post then there isn't another connection. If it's a bolt etc I suggest you dismantle, clean, and try again. Jonathan
  19. Recent thread here about repairs to speedometers. Jonathan
  20. :-) So far I've only found data before 2010 and from the USA... Jonathan
  21. It used to use a lot of power, but maybe I'm out of date... anyone know the power consumption of current systems? Jonathan
  22. If you can't find metric bolt cutters then 15/32" Imperial is very close. Jonathan Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 20 Aug 2012 17:44:50
