  1. My guess is propylene glycol + some anticorrosion additives + some wetting agent. Jonathan
  2. Do you have a local recycling centre with a cage full of discarded children's bikes? Jonathan
  3. But you're in the Southern Hemisphere... Jonathan

Does your 7 live on a conditioning charger when it's resting? Jonathan
  5. Switch. Many people have reported that full function has returned to hazard warning lights and/or turn indicators after throwing it a few times. What's the received wisdom on magic sprays? Jonathan
  6. How much coolant would be left behind if you just drained? Jonathan
  7. I predict no detectable effect. Jonathan
  8. Apps discussed in these threads: 1 2 3 ... but I don't think we've yet got a preferred app, a comparison with a traditional meter or an authoritative opinion... Jonathan
  9. Discussed here Jonathan
  10. Thanks. We just need a few more for the next batch of 25. Jonathan

Wikipedia article on antifreeze I'm aware of two current questions for 7s: 1 The best coolant for K series engines. This is mostly about preventing corrosion to the aluminium. (I follow the factory instructions.) 2 Whether wetting agents improve cooling. (I follow the factory instructions.) Jonathan

Ethylene glycol Propylene glycol A large number of additives for a large number of purposes: corrosion inhibition, increased wetting, colour, taste... Jonathan
  13. On my K-series it's fuse 5 and doesn't supply anything else. Jonathan
  14. *arrowup* *arrowup*Links please Does anyone know the power: weight ratio of the 7 that competed in F1? Are lots of you driving more powerful 7s all the time? Jonathan
  15. Is there any memento at Kyalami of the unique appearance of a Lotus 7 in an F1 race? Jonathan
  16. For removing adhesive, in order: WD40 3M Adhesive Remover More discussion in this thread, specifically for carbon fibre, with a recommendation for "Ambersil label adhesive remover". I haven't used that but I would guess it's similar to 3M Adhesive Remover, and that they're both based on limonene. Jonathan Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 17 Mar 2013 12:05:59
  17. Battery knackered. Jump to a good battery, preferably in a car with the engine running, and check that everything works that way. That will save you some time if there's another fault as well. Jonathan
  18. Quoting Tim Broyd: 12v turn in to 10v far too quickly given the low power that's being withdrawn. Is that 10V on starting (or trying to) or when? Jonathan
  19. Quoting Tim Broyd: The battery's now charged - lights, horn, etc work, but not a peep from the ignition.More detail, please. Is the ignition light on? Can you hear the fuel pump whirring? What happens when you try and start? Jonathan
  20. Here's what I'd do. Disconnect, inspect and reconnect the wires to the battery terminals. Disconnect, inspect and reconnect the earthing strap(s). Measure the voltage across the battery terminals, and between the positive terminal and a remote earth. Measure the feed voltage at the light switch. Jonathan
  21. Have you got a multimeter? Jonathan
  22. Snap! I checked this with James Whiting last year. Jonathan
  23. I'm interested. Best wishes Jonathan
  24. Next up is 3M Adhesive Remover. But I'd check that it's supposed to be safe on "carbon-fibre" AND try it somewhere unobtrusive first. Jonathan
