  1. Did the correspondence with the factory give any further information about the Sevens to which this applies? Thanks Jonathan
  2. Do you have a multimeter and would you like the appropriate wiring digram? Here are the standard wiring colours. ... First let's check that you have the right sort of switch. Please add a link to what you bought. ... If there's no guidance with the switch then you need to check which terminals are connected when. The centre terminal is probably the input which should be connected to one and and only one of the others at a time. Jonathan
  3. "You might try here https://kelvedonlotus.co.uk/product/hydraulic-brake-light-switch/ It appears to be the same as an Elan S3 switch." Thanks. That's SKU: X036J6017Z. Jonathan
  4. Hydraulic brake switch: Full search of the archives. The thread is 1/8" NPT. The part number isn't Lucas SMB 423, might be Lucas SWITCH2SH SPB401 900 09/01. Caterham Parts out of stock: their ref 5161-B. At this point I'd talk to Redline. Jonathan
  5. Same diagram as upthread but higher resolution: Jonathan
  6. There's a switch from Car Builder Solutions that is widely recommended. I don't know old a Seven it will fit but I haven't heard of any problems. Jonathan
  7. Sorry for the delay. I think that tools are now covered. I had a quick look in the archives for templates. That showed that most of the discussions aren't about Duratecs, and I assume that the correct cut-out is different for different engines. I recommend a search along the lines of: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=site:caterhamlotus7.club+exhaust+template https://duckduckgo.com/?q=site:caterhamlotus7.club+exhaust+template+duratec Jonathan
  8. Yes, please can you post it using the original upload method so that the resolution isn't reduced. (I'll do this if you can send me a copy.) Jonathan
  9. Please can you post some photos of the disconnected switch and the connector. Thanks Jonathan
  10. Please let me know if you'd like a copy of the appropriate Assembly Guide. Jonathan
  11. You can check the accuracy of the Seven's speedometer at any speed of interest with an app on a smart 'phone. (Much easier than the old way of using roadside distance posts.) Probably best done with an accomplice in the passenger seat. Once you've done that you can adjust the speedometer to read what you want. Some people seem to like spot-on, other +10%. The method of adjusting varies with the type of speedometer. If all else fails you can add marks to the gauge using Letraset. If I were to use a dedicated device it would be a smart 'phone. Jonathan
  12. I think that the measurements are in the archives. Please let me know if you can't find anything and I'll have a look. Recommended tools have included abrasive flap wheels and Dremels with cutting discs. Jonathan
  13. "Piggybacking the fuel pump connected with a meter shows about 10.5v when I try and start." Where's the other side of the meter connected when you do that? Have you checked the earth to the pump? Jonathan
  14. 10.7 V on cranking is quite low. Many Sevens won't start below 10.5 V because some electronic widget or other drops out. What sort of battery is it, and if it can be topped up what are the fluid levels? Do you have another vehicle or battery that could be used to help it and to see if that makes a difference? Have you checked the connections at the battery, including wherever it's earthed? And the earth to the engine block? Jonathan
  15. I'd soak it with penetrating fluid. You could try both tips of needle-nose pliers. Tools with prongs are available. Or you could make one from metal tube. Jonathan
  16. I think that outer ring will unscrew from the switch body. Jonathan
  17. Chapman's venturi windscreen: Jonathan
  18. I'd start with Redline, and then let us know if they don't have any. Of course if you want you can change to bigger bowls or lower lamps and add DRLs. Jonathan
  19. Welcome. Is that hydraulic or cable clutch? Any recent work on it that might be associated? Jonathan
  20. Vehicle loom Green is "Accessories fused by ignition switch". Vehicle loom Black is "All earth connections". It doesn't matter where you pick these up. I suspect that they recommend using an existing gauge's connections to make the wiring easy. If you pick them up from a gauge then the gauge should end up connected as it was before you started. But what connectors are attached to the unit? Please can you add a photo of the unit and the wires. Jonathan
  21. Previous thread with the diagrams from Weale. Full search of the archives. Jonathan
  22. Yes, those are all good lines (!) of enquiry. There's a few more suggestions upthread that might save you time. Jonathan
  23. Have you got a copy of Weale's book? If not I'll have a look when I get home. Jonathan
  24. I'm not sure what you're describing. Is the whole switch unit loose in the dash, or is the switch lever loose in the switch unit? Is the lever black flattened plastic or bright metal and round? Can you add a photo? Jonathan Edited: Crossed with Ian's.
