  1. I don't know of anything better. Biggest improvement is using RainX. I suggest you check length of blade and clearance of top surround. Mine were too long and damaged the black finish. Obvious as long as you look for it! Easy to shorten. Jonathan
  2. Manbat - West Midlands Shrewsbury 0044(0)1743 218500 shrewsbury@manbat.co.uk ... might have a PVR25. Jonathan
  3. Welcome. Agree about Abingdon airfield with MSE. Excellent organisers. I'll be doing several days there with people who've never driven a 7 before. Let me know if you're going. Jonathan
  4. Very easy to hammer them through. But what's the technical term for something that is several orders of magnitude worse looking than a pig's ear? You might just get away with it using a punch similar to the one that puts them in, a lot of skill and some practice. But it should be able to punch a new bonnet the wrong way with good outcome... Jonathan PS: I toured the Morgan factory as a teenager and was fascinated by the man doing the bonnet louvres as he didn't use a jig. But he did say he'd been doing it for forty years.
  5. 16mm (nominal) hose from Classic Silicone Hoses was fine on my fittings. Whats the longest run you need taking the bleed piece into account? Jonathan

    Cage Bolts

Halfords, today: AF sockets AF spanners AF hex keys and all in stock in Oxford, according to their web site. Jonathan
  7. I was on the A40 around then... but a bit W of Oakley... yellow nose, no stripe. Jonathan
  8. I feel that my contributions on electrics become rather supererogatory when Paul is advising... ... but I'm not sure that there is an explicit fault but rather that the charging is just marginal at idle and that with enough circuits running it isn't quite enough: see related comments and calculations above. It is possible that there is a poor connection in the charging circuit, either on the live or earth side. You could inspect and remake all of those or measure the voltage directly across the alternator terminals, again both at idle and at 3,000 rpm. Jonathan
  9. Quoting TomWoodis: Ok, so last night I put the car on the charger so it was fully charged this morning. At standstill with the engine off, the voltage was showing 13V. Pretty good but I guess expected given it was fully charged. I then started the car and at idle, the voltage was 14v which I thought was pretty good. Leaving the car a while to warm up so that the fan finally came on saw that figure drop to 12.8v. With the headlights also turned on, the voltage was showing a bit less and appeared to be dropping the longer I sat there with the voltmeter. The biggest change in voltage appeared to be when the fan came on.And if you lift it to 3,000 rpm when it's dropped to 12.8V what happens? Jonathan
  10. Are you planning to heat it? Jonathan
  11. Could be duff battery or duff charging. What's the voltage across the battery at idle and at 3000 rpm? Jonathan
  12. What colour are the wheels and body? Jonathan
  13. Are they easy... and you're asking BC for to agree? :-) There's lots on this in the archives. If you haven't done something like that before the two most important questions are: * Do you have a garage to work in? * Is there someone nearby who will help? What sort of axle and diff do you have? Jonathan
  14. I have the May 2012 version: send me a BlatMail if you'd like a copy. Jonathan
  15. Have you changed anything recently? Is cranking speed normal? Measure voltage on cranking (and at rest). Jump another car/ battery on it. Any firing at all? What makes you think the spark might be "weak"? Jonathan Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 27 Oct 2013 11:15:13
  16. I'm not sure what you mean by a 9V socket. There's a lot of ways of doing this, some of which depend on whether you want an isolator switch. I found the easiest was to fit a "cigar lighter" socket in the dash that is wired directly to the battery (with a suitable fuse). This can then be used both for charging and and as an accessory socket for 'phones etc. I then put a male plug on the end of the charger lead. Jonathan
  17. Lots and lots on this in the archives. 1 I recommend a conditioning charger that measures what's happening and responds appropriately, not a traditional nonsensing trickle charger. 2 All the reputable makes seem to work fine in practice. I haven't seen any reason to spend more on the fancier models. 3 Buy one with a maximum capacity that matches your battery. Not usually a problem for batteries in 7s but you might want to use it on another vehicle sometimes. 4 Are you fitting a dashboard socket? Jonathan

    Wiper Blades

When fitting wiper blades I recommend checking that they are short enough to miss the top edge of the windscreen frame. Jonathan
  19. Quoting Anton: Don't want to hijack this thread, but could someone explain to me why 13 inch wheels are so much better than 16 inch - and how do you deal with the loss of ground clearance? The answers are in the archives, but scattered all over the place. If you search for "wheel size road height" you'll see what I mean. Issues include ... wheel size affects choice of tyre ... overall circumference depends on tyre size ... overall circumference affects gearing ... ride height... leads onto adjustable suspension length ... clearing cycle wings ... mass, weight and rotational inertia ... appearance Jonathan
  20. Sloping back... some did, some didn't. (We had a Stiletto!) Jonathan Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 18 Oct 2013 20:52:08
  21. Mmmm.... facts! Could you post a top-down view of how everything fits at the moment? Did you read that discussion of ducting air through the hole in the nose? Jonathan Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 3 Dec 2013 10:01:45
