  1. Recursive? See... :-) Jonathan
  2. See also this thread. Jonathan PS: I wish we had thread merging or a technical wiki. Jonathan Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 27 Mar 2014 16:03:40
  3. Well done, and thanks for the answer. I'd expect Purple/ black to be right rear speaker but it is a 7! :=) The sidelight-switched feed can be used for internal illumination of instruments. Or lots of blue LEDS to add presence at night... Jonathan
  4. This thread gives a partial answer. In combination with Charles's wonderful fastener pack pages this might make it possible to work it out. Good luck Jonathan

*arrowup*I'm sure that starters and solenoids can fail but in this case how does that explain this: Quoting cr: Connected the fly lead from solenoid to battery again - fired first time. Reconnected the existing red/brown wire from solenoid and took it to battery - fired first time (so that wire is ok) Took my fly lead from batt +ve to relay input (to replace the input from the tapped brown wire going into MFRU), and used red/brown to go from relay output to solenoid - fired first time. ? Thanks Jonathan
  6. As above. My guess is: Red/ white: Feed switched with sidelights Purple/ red: Accessory feed switched with ignition Black: Earth That's not quite consistent with Grubbster's findings but it should be close enough to let you (and the meter) work it out. Please tell us what you find. The current wiring diagram for "all standard instrumentation, Ford Sigma variants" has these as PR179, RW89, B 15. Let me know if you'd like a copy. Lots of people have found Scotchloks to be unreliable. I'm not quite sure what you're testing but seeing full voltage (especially under low current conditions) doesn't always guarantee that there isn't an undesirable high resistance somewhere. I'd remake that with spade or bullet connectors. Jonathan

How did you make that tap? Jonathan Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 26 Mar 2014 12:20:56
  9. Yes, see this thread and Grubbster's photo. Jonathan Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 26 Mar 2014 11:13:44
  10. There's lots on this in the archives but inevitably very few like-for-like comparisons. Mine lives on a conditioning charger and I'm very pleased with the Powervamp PVR 25. The Powervamp Clubsport 22 is cheaper. Jonathan
  11. The bottom edge of the dash... Jonathan
  12. How about this one for my preferred position: below the dash on the far side of the gearstick? That should keep the 'phone dry and beyond my near point... Jonathan
  13. Quoting Pete Underhill: I can't RMC on my stylus. I don't use a mouse very often...Could you tell us a bit more about the device and what OS and browser you're using... there might be a way... Jonathan
  14. ... do you know how to do that within your own browser? I prefer it the way it is and then control at the client end where it appears. Jonathan
  15. Thanks x2. And thanks for asking, Smiffy69. Jonathan
  16. I think the recommendation is to drain first, then look for the air gap. But is there a smarter way? AMENDED: See subsequent comments in this thread. Jonathan Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 24 Mar 2014 11:06:16
  17. Sudden total loss of power: As above. Start with feed to whatever HT set-up you have. Do you have an ignition cut-off (FIA) switch? Jonathan
  18. What did the temperature go up to? Did you do anything else at the same time as changing the thermostat? Does the fan cut in appropriately? Any evidence of leakage? I'd start by seeing what comes out of the bleed piece when you top it up again. Jonathan
  19. I'd follow advice as above: check all connections* and look for leaks. What's the expert opinion on chemical testing for exhaust getting into coolant? Jonathan * Even if they're actually silicone hoses. :-) Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 23 Mar 2014 14:24:05
  20. I only needed one from the pair I bought: could we create a secondary market? Reminds me of the story about exporting gloves to the USA... Jonathan
  21. Fascinating, thanks. I see what you mean. Nigel: Are those the same "stepped nuts" that you are discussing? Jonathan Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 23 Mar 2014 10:42:40
  22. Could you add a photo of the bits? Jonathan
