  1. I wouldn't spend any time on the running-on issue until you've cracked the bigger problems. What's the make and model of the scanner? Does it have a support forum? I assume the "O2 sensor" is the same thing as a lambda sensor. There's a fair bit of experience with those around and in the archives. Could anyone advise on how much of the problem could be caused by a fault in that (or the associated wiring) and a sensible approach to debugging it? Jonathan
  2. As above. Stu's magic trick makes changing the boots easier. Jonathan
  3. Excellent: aren't these social media useful? Jonathan
  4. First thoughts: Add a high-impedance circuit in parallel with the gauge. It needs to be high impedance to avoid interfering with the reading on the gauge. Then have an LED with some sort of variable resistance on its driver so that you can adjust the threshold at which it comes on. But you want it to come on at low signal from the sender so may need something like an op-amp to get it to work the way round you want. The sender resistance curve is in the archives here. 5. Circuit should be quite simple. Do you want to make one or buy one? You'll need an ignition switched feed, an earth and the sensor output that goes to the gauge. Jonathan
  6. Yes, "Before" and "After" photos please. Jonathan
  7. Quoting revilla: When I get a chance I'll see if I can see the tags on the casing...Or turn the propshaft and count? :-) Jonathan
  8. Quoting michaeljclark: Perhaps it's something that should live on BlatChat as a reference point, as this topic comes up fairly regularlyYes, we need a technical wiki. Jonathan
  9. Does this thread help? Jonathan
  10. Was it ever used for Academy or other racing classes? Jonathan
  11. Quoting LesG: I also swapped to waterless coolant, and would recommend you consider it. The lack of system pressure at operating temperature is impressive, and the corrosion properties are too. Don't forget you can just keep reusing it.........!Recently, and probably best, discussed here. I'm not aware of any evidence for or reason why there should be a lower pressure in the coolant liquid or anywhere in the system except the headspace. Or any detectable effect on corrosion. Or any other advantage for most 7s in most conditions. Jonathan
  12. Coolant recommendations and prices, 5L should be enough. Jonathan
  13. Letraset, but it won't correct the odometer. Jonathan

    Madness

The time taken for the pressure to equalise across the system depends a bit on the size of the hole, but the equilibrium pressure doesn't. As above, there is no flow when it's at equilibrium. Jonathan Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 14 Apr 2014 21:21:55
  15. On that ECU fuse: Most faults that blow fuses will blow the next one when the circuit is turned on. But the ECU fuse may be different: for many cars 20A seems fine, and those that have blown them have often run happily for years and the blown fuse doesn't seem to be attributable to anything else that has gone wrong. I think the operating margin is just close to zero. I'd keep it on the list. Jonathan
  16. Morning, Andrew. I though that we were both a bit slow on the brake lights! Jonathan
  17. Interesting discusion about tools. Please could someone who has used both please advise amateurs like me whether the wind-back tool makes the job easier than the peg spanner. Thanks Jonathan Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 13 Apr 2014 21:53:38
  18. Lots of helpful advice at Alcester Racing Sevens Jonathan
  19. There are a few discussions about OBDII reading using apps on iPhones etc. I don't think they've ever reached the point of there being one that's tested and recommended. If someone did find one it would be very popular. Jonathan
  20. Quoting Graham Howard: Single wheel as above wanted. Must be straight, appearance not important.M, GSOH*, ISO STR HWP LTR FTR. WAA. Jonathan * I hope
  21. No personal experience, but I expect there's lots of members who have. Lepsons have a good reputation, eg here. TRSUK are near you but I've never heard of them. Jonathan Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 12 Apr 2014 18:20:11
  22. Yes, with a bit of light to hold it against. The one-way valve isn't needed in this method but it was cheap enough. Jonathan
