  1. *arrowup*Find an existing post from you in the thread, click the "Edit" icon and change the tick box setting for "Check here to be notified by email whenever anyone replies to this topic". But I think it doesn't work sometimes. Jonathan
  2. As above: 2P=1KW. Jonathan
  3. *arrowup*That looks good. (I could only find 4WD configurations from the Jimny etc, but there some other utility vehicles that use the K6A engine.) Jonathan
  4. There's a possible lead in this thread. Lots of possible approaches: 1 Fit an automatic gearbox to an existing 7 engine 2 Fit an engine and automatic gearbox that already work together 3 Fit remote controls to an existing 7 manual box. Choosing between these would depend on what skills you have. 1 and 2 are probably going to require work on the space frame, mounts and tunnel. 3 might not, and the components are widely available. For 2 one possibility would be the engine and automatic box from a Mazda MX-5, as above. The smaller the engine and gearbox the easier the structural changes would be: what suitable small RWD Japanese drivetrains are there? Is the Suzuki engine in the 160 ever used with an automatic gearbox? Jonathan Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 2 Jun 2014 18:25:17
  5. *arrowup*Can you add a photo of that? Jonathan
  6. Good morning. Please can you describe it a bit more or add a photo? Jonathan PS: That's not a stupid question and I mean that as pedantically as possible. It's ignorant and there's not much wrong with identified ignorance. Stupidity is completely different. And thanks for the opportunity to quote one of my heroes again: It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.
  7. Two votes in the archives for 3/8" UNF: here and here. Jonathan
  8. *arrowup*Yes, that's widely asserted. There was a specific problem reported with GM blocks at one time. Apparently there's a statement from SFS on their Facebook page which says it isn't a problem with their hoses. But then not all silicone hoses are chemically identical. I would guess that there are lots of cars, and probably lots of 7s, with silicone hoses full of OAT coolant and we don't hear of any associated problems. Jonathan
  9. *arrowup*How does the presence of copper affect the choice? Thanks Jonathan
  10. BlatMail sent Jonathan
  11. Quoting daz00004: Jonathan: yep, tested without the switch in line and nothingOK. What's the resistance across the sender measured with a meter (not the gauge) connected directly to it when it's cold and hot? Jonathan
  12. Have you test wired the oil sender to the gauge with no switch involved? (That may be in your description but I'm not sure.) Jonathan
  13. For the Duratec R500 I only have the "Owners Handbook". Send me a BlatMail if you'd like that. Jonathan
  14. What else did you do to it? Jonathan
  15. Quoting Mankee: Edit: Whitney. Er. Witney, I mean."Houston, we had a problem." :-) Jonathan
  16. *arrowup*It was shouting "pump" at me, but now I see I'm not the only one! Jonathan
  17. Please could you photograph beam patterns with an incandescent 7 for comparison? You'll need to turn automatic exposure off if you can't fit it all in one shot... ;-) Jonathan
  18. Quoting Molecular--Bob: Not sure if this is relevant to a VX but i found that at idle my crossflow was not moving enough liquid to get the water around the cooling circuit, leading to stagnation. I found that using a few more revs in traffic allowed the fan to pull the heat out of the water.I don't understand this. Was that with a typical thermostatically-switched electric fan? Thanks Jonathan
  19. Would you be happy with one cable to the pedal and that becoming two somewhere else convenient? IIRC In the cycling world, and especially for tandems with two rear brakes, there are gadgets that do this. Jonathan
