  1. Rule of thumb for common materials (as well as MSA regulation, as ECR says) is that thread engagement length should be 1.5x bolt (stud) diameter. At least two turns of thread should be protruding through the nut. Jonathan

  6. Quoting tomperkins: I've just mocked that up using a relay and a switch that I have that has a built in LED. It seems to be working (the switch activates the fan) but there's one strange thing... The LED is ON when the switch is OFF and the LED then goes OFF when the switch is ON. I'm using piggyback connectors on the rad switch, then wiring the relay as shown in your diagram. From there I'm connecting terminal 86 on the relay to the ON terminal on the switch. The switch then has an OFF terminal that I'm wiring to ground and also a ground terminal on the side that I'm also wiring to ground. 1 Disconnect the LED, then measure voltage to earth on terminal 87 with the override switch open and closed. 2 Your switch sounds more complicated than is needed. That circuit only needs a switch with two terminals. (Single-pole single-throw.) You can probably make the switch you have do that but you'll only use two terminals.   9. You need to look at the instructions or inside the LED lamp unit to see if it already has the current-limiting resistor. (As you fitted it yourself I'll assume it isn't somewhere in the leads to the unit.) Do you have the CBS model number? Jonathan

The note said something like A) Half Mated with 68 ohm (or something) resister. Could it be I am missing the resistor? Where would it be. Having added an LED brake light should I have put a resistor in that leg? The brake lights do work and seem bright.What's the whole set-up? Original brake lights with incandescent bulbs and the added high-level LEDs? Or all LEDs? Which lampholder/ loom etc did you use for the high-level LEDs? Jonathan

  17. For comparison purposes only, the first picture is of the original supplied 620R harnesses. I specifically wanted these as I really liked the buckle, and also wanted the font of the Caterham wording to be the same as that on the side of the car (some people call this OCD - I prefer to think of it as attention to detail :-)).If you want real attention to detail, I think you mean typeface rather than font... ;-) Looks great, have fun.   18. I recommend you look at Vespas. Mine's an ET4 125 but I'm keeping it: lovely little device. Have you decided what size wheels you want and how much luggage space you need? Mine takes a helmet and gloves under the seat and a bag with a laptop in the rear box. Jonathan

  23. Front: this leads to this, which says 3/8" x 24. At the price of the fancy ones I'd make sure I ordered the right size by running a bolt or ordinary nipple in first... Jonathan
