  1. Quoting SM25T: Quoting Jonathan Kay: Quoting SM25T: ... or cut a piece off that is just long enough to sit in the socket of the filler plug and also the thickness of a 10mm ratchet spanner ... a bit quicker to operate.Yes, but it's rather important to use the sort of ratchet spanner that has a lever to control the direction of action rather than the type that has to be turned over...Surely if there is room to fit the spanner in the first place, you can withdraw it and turn it round ?The travel of the plug eats the clearance of the hex stub... and just as the oil gushes out because the gearbox was grossly overfilled you realise that it is indeed a ratchet spanner... ;-) Jonathan (and don't call me Shirley)
  2. My original mirror didn't vibrate but the first replacement from Halfords did and the next one does too. The screen and fixed stem look stable. I might try sticking some lead on the back (front). Jonathan
  3. Quoting SM25T: ... or cut a piece off that is just long enough to sit in the socket of the filler plug and also the thickness of a 10mm ratchet spanner ... a bit quicker to operate.Yes, but it's rather important to use the sort of ratchet spanner that has a lever to control the direction of action rather than the type that has to be turned over... Another alternative is to cut a hole in the tunnel and access from the cockpit. More on both of these in the archives. Jonathan
  4. What were the timescales on this... how long were you running with the old oil, and how long after changing was the improvement? Thanks Jonathan
  5. Wiring colour codes in this thread. Don't forget the fuse. Jonathan
  6. 1 You're about to get answers based on not carrying a spare and suggesting nothing (± 'phone and payment card), sealing foam and bits of rubber that act as plugs. 2 If you aren't happy with that any combination will almost certainly get you home safely as long as you put very little force through it. So I'd use the cheapest and self-control. Welcome Jonathan
  7. PS: As in other thread... why not wire directly from the battery with an inline fuse? Or do you want it to be switched by the ignition? PPS: Welcome Jonathan
  8. 1 Find out if it's true: web, manufacturer, Morgan club forum etc. 2 Test the signal coming from the oil pressure sensor. (NB fault could also be in downstream wiring.) 3 Fly lead, as above, to test the theory and other components. Jonathan
  9. Similar problem discussed and probably solved here Jonathan
  10. My left rear has always done this since first assembled in 1988. But I suppose a change might be more significant. Jonathan
  11. Anyone else listening to the wireless? Jonathan
  12. Several reports and suggestions in the archives: not all related to oil. Try searching for "stiff gears". Jonathan
  13. Quoting AndrewB: It was a 7.5A that was in there. What model and dash? It's 15A on current models, and I think it was 10A at some point in the past. Jonathan
  14. A couple of comparative tests, from the occupational noise angle: 1 2 For some reason both tests found that performance of iOS apps was better than that of Android apps. Jonathan
  15. Do you have a smart 'phone... lots of apps available. But I don't think that anyone has shared a good test of them yet. Jonathan
  16. There are a few reports in the archives. Advice seems to be to check for wiring problems such as damaged insulation, but I'm not sure anyone ever found any. One member fitted a resettable breaker rather than a fuse. I'd get the switch out and have a play, clean it and, if that doesn't fix it replace it. Jonathan

    Oils

Worth warming the gearbox first? If you're worried about leaving too much of the old oil in you could suck as much as possible, add some warm new oil and suck again. Jonathan
