  1. Well done. Was that the one that was squeezed by the cover? Jonathan
  2. *arrowup*If that doesn't work out there's a thread somewhere about submitting CAD files to a company that has a water jet cutter. Jonathan
  3. There's a thread somewhere suggesting that visual indication for eg the fog light being on doesn't have to be a light... a bit of coloured tape on the revealed switch edge would satisfy the regulations. Jonathan Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 14 Jul 2014 18:55:27
  4. Quoting Blokko: Thought that the Palace itself was so-so...That's a first impression... but on reflection? ;-) Jonathan
  5. Here's what I gleaned from the archives: Always change the CRB. Changing the clutch plate depends on the thickness left, but there are lots of different types with different thicknesses. Which is just where you started. Inspect the clutch fork.Jonathan

    Not good

1 What Paul says. The use of stainless steel bits for cosmetic advantage comes up here and in the motorbike world. Have there been any consequent examples of failure? 2 Wikipedia article on Galvanic corrosion, but unfortunately it omits carbon (as in fibre not steel) from the series. Guidance from the British Stainless Steel Association that includes carbon. There will be more corrosion between aluminium and most stainless steels than between aluminium and zinc. But how big a problem is this in practice on 7s? I would guess the major determining factor is how wet and salty and for how long. Anyone seen corrosion with carbon fibre yet? 3 Please tell us what Caterham say. Jonathan Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 14 Jul 2014 08:27:58
  7. *arrowup*What sort of dash? Jonathan
  8. The Demon Tweeks mirror is 120mm wide. My current Halfords mirror is 160mm/ 180mm (at rest). I've just been playing and I don't think 120mm will give me a field of view that fills the angle from my ear to over the left wing. How does that work on yours? Thanks Jonathan
  9. Thanks You need to get the photo on another server first... do you use anything for photos already? (I think the Club site, as opposed to BlatChat, supports this.) Then get the URL for that, then you can link to it. Jonathan
  10. Well done. Did you take a photo you could share? Thanks Jonathan
  11. I wonder if it was built in a day? :-) Jonathan
  12. Can any of you help AdamQ? Thanks Jonathan
  13. What's the new gearbox? Is it anything like this problem? (I couldn't visualise what they were describing.) Jonathan Edited by - Jonathan Kay on 12 Jul 2014 15:11:15
  14. Is it soot, which can be caused by arcing at a poor connection, or could it be grease? Clean the terminals and the caps. Inspect the inside of the caps. Refit. Do they feel good and all the same as they engage? Does it run better now? Question for the experts: Do you recommend appropriate grease in plug caps, please? 15. Is the sound affected by applying the brakes? Quoting MereCat: Brakes look okWhat did you check? Jonathan
  16. Quoting revilla: One engine coming out, one absolutely identical replacement engine going in, so no need to change anything in the wiring or plumbing. We'll see... Is this a convenient thread to ask about advantages and disadvantages of removing the gearbox with the engine or splitting them in the car? I've only done installation with them together when I first built the car... and it wasn't the hardest task. Benefit of using a load leveller discussed somewhere. Jonathan
  17. What's the vibration like on the Demon Tweeks mirror mounted on the screen? Thanks Jonathan
  18. Did you find these? 1 2 3 4 It's not too far to Birmingham but there are a couple in Yorkshire there as well. Mine need doing soon, and at these prices I wouldn't consider anything short of stripping and powder coating. Jonathan
  19. Quoting ChrisN: Hi All just been out in my sigma and caught a pair of cat eyes on the front end of my sump. What's your clearance? Jonathan
