A supplier of laminated glass screens should be able to make this to size. And apparently they're not too hard to take apart and reassemble, Do you want one with heating wires? Jonathan
  3. Bigg Red are often recommended for repair kits and rebuilds. Jonathan
  4. Sorry. Please can you add a photo of the bezel.. does it have any notches? Jonathan
  5. I wouldn't shift anything sideways until you've checked whether you can remove and refit the plug using a hex key stub and a wrench. Have you found the Alcester Racing Sevens notes, now on the Wayback Machine? Jonathan
  6. Buttons in the middle of the wheel with a "pencil" switch often make bad contact, and can usually be persuaded to restore normal service. But first I'd have a quick look at the connections at the horn(s). Jonathan
  7. You're not alone. There are recommendations for mirrors, suction cups, glues and adhesive pads in the archives: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=site:caterhamlotus7.club+rear+mirror /forum/techtalk/recommend-me-suction-rear-view-mirror https://duckduckgo.com/?q=site:caterhamlotus7.club+rear+mirror+adhesive Cleaning the surface is obviously sensible, but I have no idea why some owners have problems and others don't. Jonathan
  8. Size and source of a magnetic plug for the BMW diff. Jonathan
  9. That eBay item. That's M22 x 1.5 mm. The post to which I linked upthread was 20 x 1.5 mm. Please can you confirm. Thanks Jonathan
  10. I think that it's the speedometer drive. Discussion of leaks. Guide to Speedometers. Jonathan (crossed with Ian's)
  11. Full search of the archives. Four page thread from 2018. Jonathan
  12. https://caterhamparts.co.uk/fixings-other/1438-nylon-racing-washer-shim-175-x-32-x-1.html "16 used on the rear & 12 on the front suspension" i don't know: have you used the button to "Ask an Expert"? Jonathan
  13. "Common problems... a gunged up bendix drive." My first road-legal car was a Morris Minor with a dodgy Bendix drive. I used to keep a wrench under the bonnet to turn it to a happier position. What can be done with modern starters... clean and lubricate while it's in place, or does it have to come out? Thanks Jonathan
  14. You've got several suggestions already: I recommend starting (!) with a very open mind about the cause. I'd start by measuring the battery voltage at rest, minimum during cranking, and at 3.000 rpm. Then inspecting the relevant wires (including the engine earth) and connections, and cleaning all of the connections as you say. Jonathan
  15. Do you have one that's bust? If so how about having it repaired? That's often cheaper and you'll know that both the mechanical mounting and the electrical connections will work without modification. Jonathan
  16. There's a switch in the gearbox. The switch might have one or two terminals. Have a look around there and when you've found something tell us the number of terminals and the wiring colours. As upthread: Ignition ON to test. Jonathan
  17. No special issues. The Assembly Guide recommends Loctite on the threads and bearing grease on the balls, as above. Jonathan PS: Please let me know if you would like a copy.
  18. "only problem now is the reverse light not working! (but I have no proof this was working before... multimeter time ahead." Anything relevant in this thread about reverse lights and the Caterham LED unit? Jonathan
  19. "This is an interesting predicament! I had assumed that the JAL units were literally plug and play so it would be interesting to hear if anyone else has had similar issues" "Just to point out these were caterham not JAL." AIUI the electrical issues are: 1 LED indicators will require a suitable relay. On old Sevens this will usually require a change. This is a straight swap. 2 If the Seven has a single telltale light in the dash the circuit will need to be changed if you fit LED indicators or an LED tellltale. This is where the diodes come in. Kits are available. 3 If the Seven has an earth-switched reverse light it will cause problems with the Caterham LED rear lights because they use a common earth for the different circuits. Several solutions are available for this. Jonathan
