  2. After those two: What sort of dash? Do you have a kill/ master switch? Check ECU and other relevant fuses. Check that all sensors and similar are connected.Jonathan

  4. According to the archives just about everyone is happy with their choice. Check that clamps and heater bits are included, if you want them. Mine was Classic Silicone Hoses. (They were cheapest at the time and replied to emails.) There might be a current Club discount from one or more suppliers... Jonathan
  5. I'm confused. How many vehicles are there... a car and a trailer "van"? Jonathan
  6. If the tank is truely empty (ie you've not just run the car until it stops) then I'd suggest adding some fuel and running the car until it dies. The meter reading at that point will then be your "practical" empty reading, as there is a surprising quantity of fuel in the tank that isn't able to be picked up, and I'm not sure whether the lowest reading of the sender is in that "dead" fuel area, or not.   10. Set the meter to resistance and clip it across the sender. I'd disconnect any other leads. There is a table of values somewhere in the archive, but you should be able to find the range without that. Use the smallest range setting that works. Someone recently suggested 2 L per step. Jonathan

  14. The resistor readings for various senders are in the archives. Never played with a Stack gauge but can you do it one pass by running to empty then adding say 5 l at a time? Jonathan
  15. I'd be having similar thoughts. You can use temporary earth jumps to see if they fix it before you do it definitively. Jonathan
  16. Does it ever go on a charger? And if so how is that connected in relation to the master switch? I don't think there are any other additional problems from piggybacking as you describe. You should inform any other driver or buyer that it's a bit unusual. Jonathan

  20. Isn't that a bit complicated: why do it in turns rather than length? You need to know the thread diameter and the safety factor and then check you have that length of protruding stud and nuts with that minimum axial length of thread. (And that's why I asked that in the first response.) There are several reports of short studs in the archives. I've never replaced them but it doesn't sound too hard. Let us know if you can't find the procedure. Jonathan
  21. We have an expert technical X-rayist member... But I think you're going to get very conservative answers with or without images because no-one has done enough tests to know, and the effects of failure could be quite nasty. Jonathan
  22. Does anyone know if these are point to point wired or if there is a control or relay unit? Or have a wiring diagram? In the absence of that I'd expose the switch in the driver's door and run a good temporary feed into the wire to the passenger's door's window. That should test whether the problem is in the switch. If that doesn't work I'd run a good temporary feed into the terminal on the passenger's door switch that receives the feed from the driver's door. Jonathan

    Uisng your multimeter check the feed to the switch, and then the output voltage at the switch terminals with the switch in each position. Have you got the appropriate wiring diagram? Jonathan
