  1. Not as long as you eventually found what you were looking for. Jonathan
  2. Can you get a model number of the starter or a photo of the terminals? Check the solenoid and starter and engine earths. Jonathan
  3. My K series couldn't get warm on the motorway last Friday morning. Has anyone suggested a matching easily-fittable and possibly-adjustable blind? Jonathan
  4. Firstly, I've read in some of the archives that some people cut the boot floor in half to aid removal when required. Is this a worth while mod? Some members' slide in out and easily, others need help. For the latter surgery should help. What is under there (other than the fuel tank) / why might one want to remove it regularly? Access to the diif for topping up etc, letting more light through when you're underneath... and possibly some of the mysterious rituals of polishers? What is the best stuff to use to adhere the carpet? For carpet backing to ply I'd use Copydex or similar. - What luggage hooks are best, and what would be the best type of fixings to use? Something like this that folds down, but the recessed bit is irrelevant on carpet. http://thumbs1.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/mp0wXAVbr5G5QBA4g_Ckdng.jpg Do you need any Tool Tubes? Jonathan
  5. Thanks x2. Grant_7: Nice video, thanks. Please could you list the LED lamps you used, sorry if you've done that already. I think we're nearly there... Jonathan
  6. I can't recall a definitive guide, but there's some rivetting discussion here. How about blogging it? Jonathan
  7. Noticed a few of these today. One was from me, and it wasn't triggered by editing and reposting an existing post. Jonathan
  8. ... and the 3/8 cleaned out the dodgy email thread perfectly... :-) Jonathan
  9. Where are you... and would you like a visitor... there are some very helpful members out there... Jonathan
  10. Thanks: now re-engaged. Jonathan
  11. I'm not an expert on these carburettors but after that experiment I'd now move to OliverSedlacek's strategy above: overfuel and hope it catches as you come back from being too rich. if that doesn't work after a couple of attempts I'd inspect the plugs after the pumping bit. Do you have a big battery/ jump leads/ power pack close to hand? Jonathan
  12. You may be right about the independence of the base design and the colour: I can't find a definitive guide, or an explanation. I don't know of any Caterham factory indicator mounts that aren't the same (traditional, 180° spacing) front and back. But could someone have a look at some recent cars, and then there are modified mounts available... Jonathan
  13. Different locating protrusions on the base and different colour. It's something to do with new diferences between front and rear indicators. http://www.ampoule-phare-voiture.fr/images/produit/ampoules_par_modeles/base/58065.jpg Jonathan
  14. As above I like the New & Updated view EXCEPT I find it very frustrating that if I view a thread (or contribute to one) it drops off the N&U view. Agreed. And it's not just us. I think it needs an "All" filter and tab for that view. Jonathan
  15. With similar requirements I bought a set of A021Rs from George Polley Motorsport. I expect them to run out soon. There is a suggestion that they'll fit them free if you turn up. Jonathan
  16. There's a parts list in this Guide. (And here's Shaun's general Guide on oil systems.) I can't remember seeing a step-by-step guide: if you do this how about writing one with pictures? Jonathan
  17. I searched using the site's built-in tool for VX AND cambelt AND change, giving this URL: http://www.lotus7.club/search/site/VX%20AND%20cambelt%20AND%20change Another good tactic is to use Google with something like this string: site:lotus7.club vx cambelt change but it doesn't seem to add anything on this occasion. Jonathan
  18. A detailed procedure would be good. Martin: Unfortunately there are a vast number of threads on this and I don't know and just can't tell if there is a detailed procedure anywhere. As above, and here, there are several recommendations for the Haynes manual, and I'd guess that someone will lend you a copy... there is one offer in that linked thread. Are you going to buy or try and borrow the tools? Jonathan
  19. How many other members can't see dates and times, and what browser and OS are they using? Those screen dumps compared above are within a thread: does the same problem occur for some when looking at pages which are tables of links to multiple threads? Screendumps, please. Thanks Jonathan
  20. Counterclockwise!!! No offence to our American friends, but that really isn't Cricket old chap! :-) I knew that I was in a minority in that usage but had no idea there was a transatlantic rift. Thanks. As it happens I know exactly why I say that: my mother insisted that counter- didn't have quite the same sense of "against" as "anti-". I'm not sure that I agree. But it is more euphonius. But it's still amazing that in a thread with "Caliper" in the Subject the disputed point of usage between British English and American English is another word! Jonathan
  21. I did search first but didn't find this one **must try harder** "Nobody said it was easy No one ever said it would be this hard" :-) You'll be fine. Jonathan
  22. Some hints on access and the O ring. I'd fit a new one if the old one looked tired. Jonathan
  23. Hmmm... Is that test of the spark by watching it jump to the block? Is the fuel getting to the plugs? What do they look like after a long attempt? Recheck that the right lead goes to the right plug? Blast of Easy Start or similar? Jonathan
  24. Is your concern about getting enough clearance to fit the new pads, or that you think the pistons should wind back... and they won't? Jonathan
