  1. The oil etc should be in the Handbook. If you haven't got a copy I think they are now on the Caterham Cars (not parts) website. But let us know if not. Jonathan
  2. I haven't read about a lot of problems with draining and refilling Sigmas... but I think the same is true for most Ks! I'd take the same precautions about tilting the car, looking for the highest point(s) in the circuit and bleeding accordingly. Jonathan
  3. As it happens there are three cooling threads near the top of the pile at the moment... the others being one for a VX and one for a Duratec! There is the peculiarity of the thermostat position but I suspect that the usual prevalence of Ks in the discussions is because there are a lot of them around. Jonathan
  4. Master switch and starter relay are good candidates. But you need a few things to make the diagnosis easier: A multimeter: recommended model, and treat yourself to an additional set of leads with croc clips. Confidence that the battery is good. Measure the voltage across the battery terminals at rest, as you try to crank and at 3,000 rpm. The wiring diagram. If you haven't got one send me a Private Mail.In the meantime can you connect a good battery or another vehicle (best running at 3,000 rpm) to the battery with thick jump leads and see if that makes a difference. Jonathan
  5. Good point about the handbrake switch. How about disconnecting the cap and seeing if the fault still occurs? Jonathan
  6. How's it going? And what's the problem with the battery? Jonathan
  7. What sort of sender (as above) and dash? Visual inspection of wires at the sensor. Any problems with other instruments? If so check instrument earth. Alternative speedometers: Satnav as above Smart 'phone with speed display Put marks (Chinagraph or Letraset or similar) on the rev counter for limit speeds in top (or other appropriate gears).Jonathan
  8. Is it coming on fully bright? There's a known fault where the light comes on inappropriately but is dim. I'd swap the cap. Jonathan
  9. ... I meant road-legal A021Rs... Jonathan
  10. Yes. But how do you know the timber was true? Jonathan
  11. Does anyone know if all the road-legal ones are sold out? Jonathan
  12. ... but the AO21R is no longer road legal. Have all the suppliers now run out of stock of road legal A021Rs? Jonathan
  13. Fill it with the right stuff with a bit of a flush. And then check it isn't losing it somewhere else as well. Jonathan
  14. AMENDED Here's the wiring diagram for that family of plugs. And ABB's own version. But what are you putting at the other end of the wire to get safe, legal 240V single-phase? At the explanation level: Any of the live phase pins will have 240V to neutral in single-phase working. There isn't necessarily a neutral in 3-phase working. (I don't know the right wording for this.) Usual safety platitudes. Jonathan
  15. No, Andrew... it probably means that this thread isn't (yet) affected by the glitch... :-) ... I'd guess it's an error in the database that stores user access history. That fits what I am experiencing and also with it working as usual when you're not logged in. Jonathan
  16. I'm getting none when I try and navigate the forums top-down. Messages and logging in and out are OK. I've emailed Shaun. Jonathan
  17. There's no need for anything as fierce as brake cleaner (which is actually completely different stuff from different suppliers), acetone (which is a common constituent of brake cleaner), nail varnish remover (which is either acetone or not) petrol or naphtha. You're only trying to remove any grease left after cleaning the screen. Jonathan
  18. Welcome. What sort of oil system do you have? ... or do I need to move the other pedals back to where they were, nearer to me? Lots of people have problems with this. In addition to choosing positions it's quite common to bend the throttle pedal. And there are accounts of doing this without removing it... I added an extension to the L side of the throttle pedal to make it easier to heel and toe. Mine's oak but I'm told that other materials are available. Having moved the clutch or throttle pedals have a good look at the angle that the cable makes as it enters the pedal box. A bad angle probably causes increased wear. ... has anyone else found their rear-view mirror shakes itself to freedom? Yes. Sometimes they stay on for ages and sometimes they don't. I just clean and try again. I'm not conviced that one sort of pad is better than another. Do you know about the Club's discount vouchers for Halfords? There is a recommended suction-pad mirror somewhere in the archives. (A minority party advocates not having a central mirror.) Jonathan PS: Crossed with SM25T's. Not that that's ever happened before... :-)
  19. In the 70s we'd have borrowed a Colortune plug to find out what was happening... could that help? Jonathan
  20. If the voltage is there I think that either the horn is bust or there's a high resistance somewhere in the circuit. Two main diagnostic routes: either measure the resistance or rig temporary wires in parallel until it works. And one part of the latter is direct testing of each horn, as Mankee says. Until you've done that they're useless for diagnosis. Jonathan
  21. Normally use meths to remove the residue from White Spirit. :-) Should have used your nail varnish remover rather than WS And I keep acetone away from plastics unless there's no other solution. I would think that methylated spirits (altogether now: it's mostly ethanol) and isopropanol are just the same for this job. Jonathan
  22. Clean with whatever. Isopropanol, wipes are convenient. Warm the adhesive pad. Jonathan
