  1. Presumably it's even more important to run the crystals the right way in this sort of DC configurations than with (AC) speaker cables. And don't forget the low-oxygen metal. Jonathan
  2. Why do you want to solder rather than only crimp? What metal cable are you planning... aluminium? Would that be light enough? :-) Jonathan PS: I'd buy ready-made or borrow a heavy-duty crimper... or ask an owner nicely.
  3. ... when I get my car back I will be able to check the diameters , she is away having the engine rebuilt. I was wondering about the reticence to get the ruler out! :-) Jonathan
  4. New or preloved? Can you add a photo and the resistance to earth? I guess you'd have to check that the two senders/ oil sender and gauge are compatible. Any serial numbers on the bit around the spade terminal? Jonathan
  5. Has anyone found a source of heated glass to fit? I wouldn't expect isopropyl alcohol to stop misting. It's a useful degreaser and cleaner but it evaporates quickly. Could I persuade you to do half of of it (in stripes?) and photograph the effect? Jonathan PS: There are several approaches to antimist treatment: The one most of us use leaves a thin layer of lipid. Potatoes are also available.
  6. Please can you measure and add a photo? Jonathan
  7. What model, engine, year and dash? Please send me a Private Mail with your email address. Jonathan
  8. 52mm diameter? White on black? Jonathan
  9. You can get dual gauges, I think both oil pressure + temperature and oil + water temperature. Which suppliers have you searched already? Jonathan
  10. Let me know if you'd like a wiring diagram. Jonathan
  11. I think that someone identified it beyond the Caterham parts number... possibly a Ford part. It should be in the archives. Jonathan
  12. Probably, but I don't like the different current capacities of the two USB sockets, especially in a dark place and working by feel... Jonathan
  13. I assume you're doing them all at once... Speedometer calibration, appearance, fuel consumption... Considering a different set for winter? Jonathan
  14. Fascinating. Thanks Jonathan
  15. Thanks... look forward to hearing how they turn out. Jonathan
  16. What was it like when you tried to spin a road wheel rather than the disc? Jonathan
  17. That's neat. If I were fitting an accessory socket now I think I'd use both "cigar lighter" and USB sockets, rather than trying to remember the adaptor. Jonathan
  18. Got it, thanks. But does that legal problem matter for an individual who is calibrating accurately as opposed to a commercial mass supplier? Jonathan PS: I have a very low opinion of the ergonomics of most speedometers... but I may have mentioned that before... :-)
  19. Re accuracy, you can tune these electronic jobbies for either speed or trip mileage. I don't understand that. If you can measure elapsed time accurately why is it one or the other? The only factor I can think of is large amounts of spinning or locking the wheels... Jonathan
  20. Glad it's sorted, but why not set it spot-on? Jonathan
  21. Depending on what gear you're connecting... watch out for those current capacities... Jonathan
  22. Thanks, Shaun. (i'd guessed that!) Jonathan
  23. Not quite a direct answer but these threads might help: 1, 2. Jonathan
