  1. "Guy Martin: Last Flight of the Vulcan Bomber": Channel 4. Jonathan
  2. Presumably full wiki access (that is, for edits and updates) would be limited to the L7C membership. The idea of kit-builders being able to annotate a central copy of the AG has enormous appeal, but I think CC will require some persuading to play along. After all, they turned down our request to load up Workshop Notices on our website -- even those that were already in circulation amongst the membership. I think it needs to be multi-author to keep it up to date. Without that it will be just another fragment to join the numerous existing threads and blogs. What do others think about who should be able to write and read? (My own view may not be representative as I think that the forums should be restricted to Members except for a few exposed tasters.) It would clearly be better to link from the factory Assembly Guide. I'd hope we could convince Caterham by demonstrating the quality and value of our work on something to which they don't have rights, eg choice of tyres. But if they don't agree I have a cunning plan... Jonathan
  3. :-) When I was after some it transpired that the caps differed between types of wheels... Jonathan
  4. I'm up for this, but my ideal plan would be: We get multiauthor wikis running on the site. We build those for some topics that are under own control, and when that's working... ... we ask Caterham for permission to build an annotated wiki version of the Assembly Guide.Jonathan
  5. Can I add the Napoleon speech now? :-) Jonathan
  6. My standard 1800 K won't warm up enough either on winter motorways since it was rebuilt. I haven't heard of any problems with detached masking bits. I'm going to do that on the bottom third of the grille and see what happens. Jonathan
  7. Other designs are available... Jonathan
  8. Welcome. Have you found the Club Guides? And do you have a factory Assembly Guide already? Beyond that there are lots of build blogs. Jonathan PS: Where are you?
  9. :-) I should have added: Once you've got a good position with the cushions you can look at a more metallic solution... Jonathan
  10. Yes, she will. Bring the pedals as close as possible. Then add firm foam cushions behind, and underneath if needed. But do you both want to drive it? you might not be able to find positions for the pedals that work well for that. How tall are you? Jonathan (Crossed with Tim's)
  11. I presume the main lights are done like that for safety reasons. Another approach would be to use a resettable illuminated breaker easily accessible on the dash. And put each of the headlamps on a separate breaker. Jonathan
  12. Julian: If you don't get answers here you might like to ask those in a thread that has a more obviously related Subject. Jonathan PS: I don't know if the answer is in the archives... what sort of engine?
  13. What Ian says... intermittent faults are much more likely to be caused by problems in or between connections than in a run of wire. (But a counter-example to that rule of thumb cost me a lot of time recently.) Jonathan PS: Do you want help with diagnosing your back problem? No multimeter content... :-)
  14. Sorry to hear your troubles. Always difficult when it's intermittent. How long would you need it to run to think it was fixed or not? Don't know about the MAP sensor and lead. Can you add some photos? How difficult would it be to swap the sensor and local wiring? That might be the best diagnostic route, and if you're lucky someone might offer one for the purpose. In general unless you know exactly what are you doing then to test continuity it's usually desirable to disconnect both ends from anything. Then set your multimeter to resistance and measure. With your fault you also need to wiggle the wiring while you test. Is the connector big enough to get small crocodile clips on the pins? Jonathan PS: This sort of sensor? http://caterhamparts.co.uk/img/p/3840-3814-large.jpg
  15. You're welcome to borrow my delivery engine supports. OX44 9DB. Donation to NtL? Jonathan
  16. ... and aim to take a week off work to get it moving properly. If you're starting with an intense session you'll need to put extra effort into checking you've got all the right bits well before it starts. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Jonathan
  17. Taking the frame apart was very easy... Please could someone give us some detail on how hard it is to take apart and reassemble, and what tools and bits are needed. There are probably lots of us wavering on that who might join the Bulk Buy after some reassurance. Thanks Jonathan
  18. Which engine? What improvements over the common or garden variety would you like? There's quite a lot in the archives. This might be the most informative single thread. Jonathan
  19. How often are you going to use it? I borrowed one and there are often offers from Members. Are you going to use a balance bar thing? Apparently they make it much easier. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61hPFB7%2BQfL._SX425_.jpg Jonathan
  20. Someone had a 260mm Momo. Any particular wheel in mind? Jonathan
  21. Where abouts are you? For me this was a belt too far, even though mine isn't a VVC. I knew I could probably do the job but I was scared of the consequences of getting it wrong so I chickened out and got James Whiting to do it. I don't think I'm alone. Having someone who's done a few standing next to me might have been just what I needed to tip the balance. Is that what the sentence implies? I know there are some very helpful Members out there... Jonathan
  22. Good idea. (My father worked at PB/ Triplex/ Pilkington for nearly all his career.) Jonathan
